That's what I thought, jlabsher.

I've read that adult stem cells (meaning the type of cells that are fully differentiated) are starting to show promise for the same uses as the embryonic stem cells. That's good news if true, since adult stem cells are readily available from umbilical cord blood. Those type of stem cells are already being used to treat various leukemias and anemias. My wife and I donated our older daughter's cord blood to a company that does that type of treatment.

I think that's the point that the laws were intended to stop - people creating fetuses (embryos), for the expressed purpose of harvesting cells from them.

I mean, why not just grow a whole human being, so you can cut out his heart?
