Tomatoes. They say they lost like 40 million because of the salmonella outbreak. Just great. Now tomatoes will go thru the roof as if they werent already. I just got store bought tomatoes this weekend and I lived. I even bought Roma, OMG, Im so pushing my luck. I know some got sick but now theyre goning to sh!t can the whole crop? Cant even enjoy a salad anymore.

Buy your own tomato plant from a local Amish/Menniote (spelling?) and grow some to save some $$$. :shrug:

167 people in the world complain and they throw away a crop. Tell those 167 to buck up and quit looking for a law suit. Ive had severe food poisoning before, wished I was in a hospital, but I got thru it. you barf and crap alot, big deal.

I grow my own tomatoes. If they don't make or don't keep up, I buy from the Amish. It is sad that I can't order a salad at a restaurant anymore. First mad cow, then the lettuce, now the tomatoes. i think I'll start raising cows and chickens and just skip the dining out experience.

Tomatoes from the grocery store have always been nasty too me. I like local ones. My cousin sells them at the farmer's market and they are so good that my daughter will eat them like an apple.

I buy tomatoes from the Mennonites by McKays. DR can't eat them, so I just get ONE when I want one. I'm also having great luck growing them in the upside down tomato grower this year.

And the food crisis is going to get worse. I heard on the news this morning that the flooding in the midwest has wiped out thousands of acres of corn and wheat crops and that will cause prices to skyrocket (as if they haven't been skyrocketing already)!
