First Time Moms

I am sorta new to the area and very new to this message board. I am getting ready to have my first kid - edd- 10/29 and in everything I have read they tell you that the best thing for you to do is have other first time moms to talk to and compare notes and blah blah blah...

ANYWAY, the only "clubs" I have found are the le leche league and one for Stay at Home Moms - which I am not. If there are any first time moms out there who don't mind me butting into their "mommy" club, would that be ok?

I work in the city and my husband is military - at Dahlgren. So making friends at work is difficult since they are scattered all across Maryland and Virginia, so that sucks. Let me know if you want to talk...I have no idea how to write that without it sounding really cheesy! :baby:

I don't think you want advice from these babies mommas here.

Why would a new mom want advice from another inexperienced new mom? Honey, we have plenty of experienced old hags here. You won't be the first to come to the forums with new baby questions.

Ignore him, he likes to make trouble. (hey DW :neener:)

He's referring to the much publicized drama here a few months back about someone stealing someone else's baby's daddy. A few of those involved in that drama are still around here.

I've found that most of the "mom's groups" around are like you said mostly for the stay-at-home crowd, but that doesn't mean you can't get one going from the people on this forum.

It seems we are having an influx of mommies around here today.

You have a good point. But if she needs someone to talk to, I'm here. I didn't offer to give advice.

:yeahthat: With the previous analogy, I guess I'd be a super big help because I have NO experience and NO kids (goats excluded)....

You wouldn't get sick of answering a lot of (mostly) stupid questions?? I am just tired of asking my husband (bless his heart) to try and be both my husband and girlfriend. And I am sure he is tired of that too...

I wouldn't be the only one answering your questions. The point is to get different opinions and ideas and find out what works for you and your baby. Also, call relatives who have children (including mom) and get their input. Just remember, if you don't like mom's advice just say thank you and let her know how much it means to you that she's there for you.

We have a couple of single dad's here, with primary custody. They have all the mommy duties, too. I'm sure they'll throw in some ideas as well as the moms.

First answer. When the doc asks you if you'd like something for the pain. TAKE IT!
