From NBC4:

LAYTONSVILLE, Md. -- Five people, including three children, were found dead Thanksgiving night in an apparent murder-suicide in Montgomery County, News4 reported.

Police found the bodies of an adult woman and three children, one girl and two boys, at about 9:30 p.m. at the entrance to Unity Park at 3724 Damascus Road.

Officers searched the area and discovered around 11 p.m. in a nearby wooded area an adult man dead from what police said was an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"It looks like it is a domestic-related homicide-suicide," Montgomery County Police spokeswoman Porsha Jones said.

Police would not disclose the ages of the children, two boys and a girl, but said they were not toddlers.

The bodies were taken to the State Medical Examiner's office for autopsies.

The area around the park was closed Thursday evening while police investigated. The 1.5-acre park is in a sparsely populated area.

There have been several domestic-related killings involving children in Maryland this year.

What a shame. Those kids, they did not deserve that. I am sick to my stomach.

I agree with you there. I'll never understand why people so selfishly feel they have the right to take anybody else, especially their children, with them when they commit suicide like that.

That is horrible. I have a friend who's dad killed her mother and then killed himself in front of their house in Waldorf. The news picked up he was a cop, that was the lead on the story. "Cop kills wife and then himself in front of their Waldorf home". My friend was an only child. How horrilbe it was for her to hear the argument and find them. She was passed around and passed around through family members until she was 18 because no one wanted to raise her and then she went on her own. I always think of her in stories like this. Atleast her father had the compassion to let his daughter live. She is now well on her own and doing great.
