PGPD Five Suspects in Custody for Fatal Shooting in Landover

Our Homicide Unit arrested five suspects in connection with a fatal shooting in Landover last Friday night. The suspects are 18-year-old Denilso Diaz Salamanca of the 7100 block of E Spring Street in Landover, 19-year-old Williamz Diaz Salamanca of the 7100 block of E Spring Street in Landover, 17-year-old Elda Benavides of the 2000 block of Columbia Avenue in Landover, 18-year-old Anthony Gomez-Marin of the 6500 block of Hillwood Drive in Hyattsville and 21-year-old Cristian Mendez of the 5000 57th Avenue in Bladensburg. The 17 year old suspect is charged as an adult. They are charged with fatally shooting 26- year-old Oscar Alaniz Gurdian of Landover.

On December 6, at approximately 10:30 pm, officers were called to the 2400 block of Pinebrook Avenue for the report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found the victim outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Preliminarily, the suspects shot and killed Alaniz Gurdian as they were committing an armed robbery of a second victim who was unharmed. Alaniz Gurdin was not the intended target.

The five suspects are charged with first and second degree murder, armed robbery and related charges. A court commissioner ordered them held without bond.
