Fixed Width or 770 Format?

I am trying to export a file out of the front end of a sql program into fixed width...the program doesn't have fixed width as an option. What is the easiest way to convert the file then? Is there a way to do it in Excel or Access? I am trying for something easy here as it will be an ongoing process used monthly by someone other than me. I need to design the process then show someone else how to do it. I have also heard of this being called 770 format...I have never heard of such. Thanks for any insight and guidance!

The key, I'm thinking, is the font. The font can be either fixed or proportional. If you can export the info to a word processor, then change the font type to fixed width, that might do it. You might wind up with issues of "tab" vs "spaces" that don't line up. That can also be corrected with something like auto-replace in Word. Tell Word to substitute tabs with 5 or 10 spaces.
