Sad that they are already questioning the fact that the kids were out on a windy day. Its very sad but sometimes things just happen. Lets find someone to peg it on everytime something happens. I have said it once and I will say it a thousand times, "there another planet I can move to?"

Oh those poor parents. I could not handle losing my child like that. The family is in my prayers. :bawl:

It was really too windy to have the kids out today. That is just heatbreaking.

I don't disagree about the winds. I guess it needs to be known if there were advisories out for that area and all that good stuff. My prayers go out to the family.

Okay, I re-read the article. There were gusts to 40 mph. Pretty high for kids to be running around though the article states that the area sheltered kids from the elements. Perhaps they thought it was safe. Bummer

Too windy to have kids out.... That's a new one! I don't ever remember being called in because it was too windy. Rain, cold, thunder, yes... But WIND.

Come on. I agree this is unfortunate, but like the others posted you can't protect everyone from everything.

My heart goes out to the principal.. her and two of the teachers stayed with the child, and granted it doesn't say it, but it sounds like she had this child die in her arms. Devastating for the family, the teachers, and the principal.

I can't tell where the courtyard or the flagpole are located.

It would be my guess the flagpole was in that triangle space, behind the school. The kids were probably playing in that area.

You can almost bet that the school or somebody within will get sued for this. Tragic as it is, does not seem to me to be a situation where someone should be blamed or held accountable, but that seems to be the way our society leans now days.
Hope I'm wrong, but....
