Has anyone bought tickets to Florida for February, specifically to FLL? What price did you pay? What airline?

While not in February, I did just get back from FL, and specifically flew into FLL. Spirit was the cheapest by far. They allow 1 free carry on (as long as it fits below the seat), but they charge you for selecting your own seats, carry on bags, and checked bags.

They also don't give out free peanuts and/or drinks on Spirit planes. Not that I care, it was only a 2.5 hour flight.

I've gotten them as low as $145.00 round trip, but got them well in advance. Air Tran, and they give peanuts.

Thanks for the info on Spirit - have never flown them before. They are at $126, but I'm not crazy about their flight times - only 2 flights a day. If scheduled for the morning flight and for some reason you miss it or it gets canceled, next flight isn't until evening. Looks like Airtran has the next best price at $180 with better flight options but didn't look at their baggage policy.

While we're on the subject....what's the best flight options to Frankfurt, Germany?

Not sure if they fly there, but check IcelandAir. I have been successful with them in the past getting relatively cheaper flights to Europe with the option of a day or 2 layover in Reykjavik if you so choose on your way back. About a 5 hour flight from DC to Reykjavik then another 3-5 hours into Europe depending on your final destination. This can be better than a nonstop 8-10 hours on a plane sometimes.

I'd love to go to Germany! Hubby has gone a few times for work. Ive wanted to go with him but govt doesn't usually give enough notice in order for me to book a flight and make arrangements for the kids and dog :/

I'm flying into Frankfurt in the fall. If you don't mind traveling to New York, check airfare between Dulles and New York (JFK, La Guardia). Sometimes the savings leaving out of NY is good, even with travel time, gas, tolls and parking.

It's really amazing. Fried of mine lives there and I'll be going for Oktoberfest, so it's even better.
