Flouride Treatments for kids

Every 6 months, my boys go to the dentist for check-ups and every time, they get a flouride treatment. I thought this was standard procedure but my sister said that her 12 year old daughter has never gotten one. Well, knowing my sister and the condition of her teeth, it may just because she's never taken her daughter to the dentist. Just wondering how often kids get flouride treatments normally.

I actually enjoy my kids getting them because then I can take pictures of their tormented faces.

Seriously, I know flouride treatments are not covered for most adults. Maybe some insurances have cut back on covering it as well? I know some insurances aren't covering sealants in children over a certain age either. Maybe her insurance considers 12 too old to be covered for the flouride treatments without the 10 or 20 dollars that it costs?

My family quit flouride treatments years ago due to the following. If they used natural calcium flouride we would probably use it. But a byproduct of toxic waste?? No Thanks.

Fluoride is a soluble salt, not a heavy metal. There are two basic types of fluoride. Calcium fluoride appears naturally in underground water sources and even seawater. Maybe but my sister said her daughter has never had it done. Not even at a younger age. For all I know, my sister just opted out of having it done but it was offered. I didn't ask any questions. I just thought it was strange that she had never had it done.

I think its a great idea to take a by product of the aluminum industry that is mostly used in rat poisen, and spread it around the child mouth.

Hey, we have to get rid of the toxic stuff, might as well feed it to people in small amounts at a time.

It depends if he is taking Vitamins with Flouride or not. Typically given at the age of 5 (I may be wrong) The Child has to be able to sit for a bit, without wiggling around.

When we had Public Water, my Kids didn't get the Treatments either. It wasn't until we moved here, and had Well Water that the Dentist recomended it.
