Flu shot this year for kids?

John Z

if you will
Since the media continues to hype the swine flu (if you aren't already panicked, please get with the program!), I'm wondering if I should get the flu shot for my 2 year old and 6 month old this year... What do you parental-types plan to do for the little ones this year?

I am not letting anyone near my children with the swine flu vaccine. I personally feel that it was rushed to market and that there is no way that it has been tested properly or that they can know that it is safe. No way anyone is injecting that in my kids.:boxing:

I'm inclined to agree...at least to the point that I'll be doing my own research before making a decision. Add to that the fact that those who get a full spectrum of flu vaccines this year will be getting 3 shots, one for regular flu and 2 for swine flu. That's a lot of shots to add to the regular line up, especially considering that the swine variety doesn't seem to be worse than the regular variety AND that it's main scare factor comes from it's ability to mutate, which can make vaccines worthless anyway.

Interesting... I didn't stop to think of things this way. I guess I'll be digging into the internet and researching things. My daughter has a 18 month check up in sept. I'll be asking the doc his thoughts as well. My kids usually get their flu shots in Oct/Nov time frame.
