I have been a fan of Ahmed since he was at the Tides. As well as Shamal. Both of those guys are great.
I am not a fan of Ahmed, the few times I have seen him interact with customers he comes off snooty almost to the point of being rude JMO.

I do however enjoy the food, and the new general manager is amazing. Would I stop going because of Ahmed's attitude? Maybe...but the food would never be the reason unless something changes in the quality.

YOU ARE AN ASSUMING #######. FIRST OF ALL, WHY CRITICIZE A WAITOR WHEN THEY ARE JUST TRYING TO DO THEIR JOB. SECOND OF ALL, I HOPE THE NEXT TIME YOU EAT THERE YOU GET THE FOOD POISIONING, BECAUSE ASSININE PEOPLE SUCH AS YOURSELF PROBABLY DESERVE IT.
First of all, if Sean was doing his job, I wouldn't be criticizing him.

I've eaten there twice without incident, and so far you're the only one who got food poisoning. Since the odds of that are slim, and you've outed yourself a a malcontent, I can reasonably assume you are a rival restaurant owner out to damage the competition.

So what restaurant do you own or work at?

Sean is the WORST WAITER EVER.

Sean, if you're reading this, seriously you need to explore other career opportunities because you totally suck at waiting tables.

Consider data entry. Or something. Something other than waiting tables.

But the food was good! :yay:[/QUOTEYOU ARE AN ASSUMING #######.
WTF? how hard is it to post with a quote? You have the audacity to criticize her for making a simple remark when you and your MPD’s have posted in here slamming the place over and over again????

Most good chefs are snooty.

Perhaps….just not in my experience (so far) and I have traveled and IMO have dined at some very well established eateries with accomplished chefs…none so far that have acted the way I have seen at American Bistro….

But who knows….could have been off day’s for him…

Uh huh. We all have our "off days". The service industry is hell on wheels. I couldn't imagine owning or managing a restaurant, but I really respect those who do.

So true....but I am working on limiting mine to only 4 days a week.

Chef Kokomo seems to be working his way down the ladder.

Seems like the only thing he really grasped was the snootiness of the high class restaurants he started in.
CAVEAT: Don't know the man, haven't been to his place of business.

There is a HUGE difference between working in and being the owner / operator of a restaurant. So I wouldn't say he was working his way down.

Since I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express I would like to add that I doubt it was food poisioning if only the people in one party got ill.
IMHO, if it were food poisioning there would have been a run (pardon the pun) to the ER that night and it would hve gotten the attenton of the health department.

Hubster & I ate there the same night. No problems with the 'runs' :lmao:

We may never know the real story here, but I do have a friend that is a health care professional at St. Mary's hospital and there was no reported food poisioning incident at the hospital during the time in question.

I have heard that the hospital has a good cafeteria. Maybe give that a try.

Give the place a chance. My recommendations:

1. Hire a full time 'hostess',
2. More inspired 'side dishes' (although I really want to try the Lobster Mac & Cheese)
3. Have 'reserved' tables set aside.
4. Spruce up the outdoor dining area with some small white lights or tiki torches, & barrier type plants. Perhaps grow some herbs and vegetables in the raised bed area. There was minimal 'atmosphere' outside. All the adjoining businesses were closed, so if the 'atmosphere' was portable, it would make a difference in the overall feel.
5. The dress of people was anywhere from shorts/sweats to casual, to 'all out' going out to dinner. Shorts/sweats detracted from the overall ambience.

When I went there I had the mac and cheese side. It wasn't the lobster one, just the regular mac and cheese side. I didn't care for the mac and cheese. It was very dry and not creamy or cheesy at all.

I didn't really care for the food or the service when I went, but that's just me. I can be hard to impress with food.

Food Poisoning

Oh and as for the food poisoning times and hours, whatever everyone's arguing about, you are all right! Different types of bacteria take different times to impact your system. The term food poisoning is pretty broad. E. coli, staph, salmonella, etc. are all different kinds. Cramps, bathroom issues, and vomitting are all symptoms of it.

The food was only slightly worse than the service. Lured by a good review from my officemate, MK and I tried it out for lunch today. Our waiter sucked, I ordered the Chicken Chesapeake only to eat about a third of it to see the middle of my chicken was grossly undercooked, MK got a lamb steak which was very bland and terribly fatty and after eating a good bit noticed a big blue spot on the fat on the side. Not to mention he waited a healthy 10 minutes for the steak knife that the waiter failed to bring. He'll be along shortly to post the pictures of his blue spotted lamb. The only good thing about the entire experience was the assistant waiter (water guy) who was very friendly and accomodating.
