Food Stamp Question

I'm curious if anyone knows where a chart is that can tell me how much each size family qualifies for in food stamps. I found one that tells me what the monthly income requirements are, but it doesn't say how much they get in services.

I'm curious to know how my neighbors can afford to eat like kings. 2 adults, 5 kids. 1 working adult. I know they qualify for the "indepence card", but how much can they be getting a month???? Is it really that much?

It's called the SNAP program

Surely you jest ...
I'm sure there is more involved than just income. So it would vary in each case making chart not possible. Income and amount of dependents show qualify or not, other factors produce amount of food help. Housing costs, utility costs and so on would have to factor in as well as income, at least I would hope so.

why????

What difference does housing costs/utility cost have to do with it?

So you're saying that if they rent for 800 a month, and have 200 in utilities, they can upgrade to 1500 a month rent, 400 in utilities and we'll just give them the difference in groceries?

They cook out 3 or 4 nights a week with a dozen or so guests invited every time. I'm gaining weight just smelling the steak on their grill everynight!!!

It has everything to do with it, they have guidelines they go by.

Not saying all that other stuff at all, (and have no idea what you mean) only saying those figures do factor in when coming up with amount of help they receive.

but i really want to know :burning:

I know I spend about 200 a month in groceries for two of us. That's getting stuff on sale, generic brand etc.

I swear these people must spend about 1500 or more a month. Are we covering that entire bill?

Does she have income? More important is social services aware she has everything paid for and by what means? They don't give these things out all willy nilly, unless lied to. As I said there are guidelines.

Are you sure they are footing the bill for everything at all the cookouts? Or are friends and family bringing dishes and their own steaks, burgers and hot dogs. That's how my group does it...they even bring sodas and chips and we set up buffet style.

Since you don't care for answers call Social Sevices and ask. :)

yes, some income.

and does anyone that receives benefits tell the truth to social services? I don't think so, because no ever seems to check to see how many people are crammed up into one section eight house!!!!

Example:
I know of one family, through a friend of a friend (I don't even know their name) that had 6 kids between them. 4 together, and 2 from a previous relationship. They lied to social servies and said they weren't together and were never married. They've been married for 15 years. He has a well paying job, and she works. They receive section 8, food stamps, medical assistance, electric/heating assistance, you name it. Never in 15 years has anyone checked on their marital status or if they reside together. I can't even turn them in because I don't know their names or where exactly they live. Abuse of the system, and that's only one example. I could give others that I have reported, and nothing has ever been done to correct it.

I've never seen anyone arrive with anything

Still, I know the amount of groceries I've seen them carry in. I've seen the cart at grocery store. It's not the cheap stuff!

Cant see being proud, but I know someone on section 8 and without the help he would be on the street. Ill, with no family and no friends able to help. I can't /won't categorize section 8 as all lazy lower class people. All cases are different.

I don't know how it is determined or where to find it, but several low life friends of ex got 200 dollars each a month, for themselves only. Single adult. No idea how kids factor in.

before her was another sec 8 mom... and her kid... she was getting her act together.. got a job.. AND THEY TOOK HER HOUSING MONEY AWAY.... WTF..
she was only working at mcd's :eyebrow:
