The Food Lion in Callaway is a decent store. I don't like the California or Great Mills stores. Too bad there isn't a Weis nearby. That is an awesome store.

i have worked in every store in charles, st marys, and PF, solomans, lusby.............

all of them have serious rodent problems.... 5 times over the past 2 months, walmart supercenter has closed to the public overnight so they could kill the birds flying around in the store... they would kill them, and they would fall in the produce, and picked up..... yet the produce woiuld not be discarded..... the only 2 stores that i have not encountered a rodent in has been target and shoppers in california..... every other store i have seen many roaches, mice, ants etc......
Indeed. Once you get pests its very hard to get rid of them in large stores. To SFW's credit I haven't seen many pests at all. They keep the place relatively clean and tight.

I recently went to food lion to pick up a couple things. I bought a pack of cheese not looking at the date. I got home to discover the cheese was dated May 02 07. Are you kidding me??? Where has this cheese been for 16 months?? The store said they'll replace it but when i was n the store, a mouse ran down the aisle next to me. I've called the health department but maybe i wont shop there anymore. So if you go to the Food Lion next to Kmart, watch for outdated items and mouse feces!!
I always watch out for'outdated' items. It's a natural thing. Mouse feces? I go to this Food Lion occasionally & I must say it used to be bad, but is much better. Their produce is very good, deli is good. Meat is overpriced for the 'quality'...and they don't have a fresh seafood section. I have NEVER seen mouse feces.

How do you know it was mouse feces & how does that relate to your original complaint??

Very low vote for seafood. Their produce is good, except for the corn. I have rarely seen or gotten good corn there.

Food Lion in PF isn't too bad, but their selection is lacking, and their meat is not very good. I only run in there to get Tapatio hot sauce. I used to shop there but they never have any jalapeno's.
:faint: I only go to Food Lion in PF if they have their incredible Pepsi sale. Otherwise, never.

I like Shoppers, especially since they redid the place. However, there is a particular cashier there that I would really love to strangle.
I love shoppers...wish we had one in Calvert!

Does anyone remember the FoodLion incident years back (1997) when they were caught putting new stickers in place of expired ones on their meat products and cheese? There was an undercover ABC 'sting'.
Well I'm sure you could google the story, but ever since then, I haven't been able to shop there.

Sadly, this happens a lot, regardless of the store! Very frustrating!
I had to tell the chick to get off the phone at STarbucks in Safeway PF. She put her hand over the receiver and said, it's my boss. I said (loudly) well you tell her you have a customer waiting! I'm sure she'll understand.
Crazy!

I had a cashier answer her cell phone once and have a conversation before she hung up and went back to checking me out. No "I'm sorry to hold you up." or anything to even try and justify her rudeness.

Hummm....

Giant is the only place we shop.

I refuse to go to Walmart and shop for groceries.

Hell. I refuse going to Walmart period. Last time I went there it looked like a trailer park threw up in the store.
that sounded a litle preconscious....:boxing:

Not sure what you mean here... I don't speak jibberish...

:pete:

But, have you ever looked at some of the people that shop there?

I swear to God they are missing a few chromosomes or have a few too many.

Weren't they caught bleaching the meats too to keep them lasting longer? It seems to me this was a little longer ago than 1997.

I guess "to each his own" but I don't care for Food Lion. You guys sure do have a lot of them down in Southern MD. I like Giant, Wal-Mart, Safeway for the sale items, and of course...Rolands in Chesapeake Beach. We are lucky to have this store in our neighborhood.

Ok

wELL i ALWAYS CHECK THE DATES ON THINGS BEFORE I BUY THEM, BUT THAT SOUNDS OUTLANDISH THAT YOU SAW A MOUSE AND THEY SOLD YOU CHEESE FROM 2006(SINCE CHEESE IS USUALLY GOOD FOR A YEAR FROM SALE DATE IF UNOPENED. I GET MY GROCERIES AND VEGGIES FROM WAL-MART, BUT NOT THE STEAKS. WAL-MART'S STEAKS ARE PROCESSED AND THE ONE I GOT THE OTHER NIGHT TASTED LIKE BOLOGNI! YUCK! I COULD'NT EVEN EAT IT. I LOVE THE STEAKS AT THE FOOD LION IN SOLOMONS, NOT PROCESSED, FRESH AND PRICES ARE BETTER THAN WAL-MART.
