Perhaps a remake will bring us similar leadership in the white house like we had when the original came out.

FYI - the central theme is how governmental intrusion is destructive to the community

Perhaps it will form a crack in the universe and kill us all, including time and space.

We discussed this yesterday at lunch....bad idea all the way around....They are trying to remake, "Scarface" as well...and even though the Al Pacino was a remake, it is a classic and shouldn't be messed with...IMO

And that's another one! What the Holy Spaghetti Monster is wrong with these people??? There is nothing in Footloose to revisit or add to. It's like redoing Tron. What's the goal? To make it even worse??? The only thing interesting you could do with Scarface is have the bad guys all be non violent and not use bad language. Maybe they could traffic in contraband orange safety signs for the back of horse drawn carriages?

I swear to God or Pete or the HSM, we could hand $10 million to ANYONE on this forum and get a better movie than 1/2 of what Hollywood comes up with.

They are remaking Dirty Dancing too!

Remember when they remade The Longest Yard and Walking Tall...

OK, but, those were good, classic movies and the remakes get much kudo's for expanding artistic interpretation and finding new avenues of expression.

Ha! Yet you sit high and mighty on your chair of judgement and have pre-deemed Footloose as having not expanded artistic interpretation and finding new avenues of expression! You dear sir are not Siskel nor Ebert.

Madam, ney, I shall not presume to declare for art there with which art is art as, pray tell, that which thoueth consider of high art-ishness is, truly nestled in thine optical nerve center like yon fly in thousest porridge.

I felt this same hysteria over True Grit. Then I loved the remake. A very different interpretation, much truer to the book. It doesn't lessen my love for the original, for there is room in my heart for both.

I'm willing to give Footloose a chance.
