Becky was on the Board as well!

I want Becky to answer these questions. She is always here in the forum
spreading her opinions on this or that, pushing for this or that...

It's all mostly one sided for her, about her plans and ideas. Well, now
I want it to be one sided for me. I want her to answer these questions
here for all to see, not just at "the next meeting."

I want it openly discussed for all to see and for all to be informed before
they attend the next meeting. Then for questions not answerable here,
to be asked and answered at the next meeting. I want full disclosure here
and now to the extent possible.

I want Becky to answer. Or...is she scared to delve into this arena?
Answered... now it's your turn to answer .... where are you getting your data? Is your data accurate? Are you guilty of invading the General Manager's privacy or are you just making these numbers up? I will check in the morning...

Don't get testy with your bold type with me Director Tice. You are
elected to represent us and put up with our tantrums, not us with yours.

If you read my last post I said I need a moment to think. Well I'm still thinking.
I will answer you after I have thought about what you said in your post and
will answer your questions to me as well.

CALCO... I need to get some sleep.... are you going to reply tonight or would you prefer to think on it and reply tomorrow? I have to get up at 5AM...

Ok then, scratch some of the previous comments.
Just read Becky's post. Need to think a moment.
Maybe you should have thought some before typing some of what you typed. It sounded like a temper tantrum and you were the one being testy. Sometimes people can't always answer questions in a public arena that you may want answers to. And, pinning all the blame on Becky is not entirely fair. I think this only the start of Becky's 2nd term as a director. How long have you lived here? Did you have to deal with the boards that started a lot of these problems - the good-old boys doing what they wanted for themselves while screwing the rest of the community? At least Becky and June are both here answering what they can and providing information that, before now, the membership has been told was unavailable to them. Get involved in CRE yourself since you seem so passionate about certain things.

Just so everyone knows.... I have taken some heat for being in this forum. The Board and quite a few of the members who attend the meetings on a regular meetings do not agree that I should be in this forum.

In my opinion, this is a means to discuss the issues with the members I would hope to represent.

As an elected unpaid volunteer, tho, I don't believe I should not be rebuked for discussing the issues with the members in any public forum and I don't believe you would respect me if I simply put up with you taking your tantrums out on me.

There are two sides to ever story and that is mine... I mean you no disrespect but I will insist that you treat me as you would want me to treat you. It's called the golden rule.

I wish more people would. It would make the difference that is needed even if they dont' necessarily agree with our discussions here. At least we would have their input...

As for Calco. I don't know who you are but I will say, I wonder why all of a sudden after all the time this forum has been available you chose to join? Did you just move here? If you did, it would be more beneficial to you more than us to go to the meetings..

By relying on what you read or what others say, how can you possibly make your own decisions...? I've been involved in this community now for over 10 years. We have people that have been in here much longer. But the "Good Ol boys" that DB talks about are a small handful. The only reason they have the power, is because people let them by not getting involved... And when they do get involved, it's usually to late...

If you want change, you have to get involved or you end up with others making your decisions for you... Just my thoughts.

Well, NDA or not, when a large portion of the POACRE budget goes
to one person I feel we have a right to know.
We know the pay of CEO's, CFO's, etc. of corporations and their stock
options, why can't we know the salary of the highest paid person of POACRE?,
THAT WE PAY FOR! And the reasons behind it.
We know the pay of our County Commissioners, administrators and the like.

Does he have a magic wand to miraculously fix all the problems of CRE?
To merit that kind of pay and benefits. By the way, he was given a contract.
The board must pay him for what, Becky,? 2-3 years. Short of him doing
something egregious, he can't be fired. And if the board does decide to let
him go, for what ever reason, the Board has to buy out his contract.
Cool huh? Does anyone here have a job like that?

Since there is an NDA, maybe..., maybe she can tell us why the Board
hired out of County/State.
Why pay for his transportation to a job interview?
Why such a large, non-discloseable, salary? Doesn't have to verify
it, just explain it.

What were wrong with the many, many, many candidates that applied
for the GM position that lived in the County and the many that lived
within CRE itself?

Becky, or any other Board member, the forum is waiting.
I usually shorten long messages like this one but just couldn't do it. You sound like you have the information.. At least it seems to me that you have more than I do...

Interesting that you would have so much detail and this actually makes me wonder...
Where you on the board last year? I would say you must have been just based on the following comment that you made.

"By the way, he was given a contract.
The board must pay him for what, Becky,? 2-3 years. Short of him doing
something egregious, he can't be fired. And if the board does decide to let

So who else is begining to wonder why all of a sudden someone would come in here and start going after Becky.. I'm here why not come after me? She could use a break anyway... Quite Frankly and in Becky's defense, at least she's trying!

I've been attending the meetings and listening for about a year now although we've lived here for some time. It's been a frustrating trip because there is so much finger pointing and back-biting, not unlike Junior High.

Biggest problem that I see is that we have a tremendous PR problem from inside and outside the neighborhood. This is negatively impacting our property values and should be considered our worst problem, yet it's never discussed. Why is that?

Lack of communication... In my humble opinion...

I really think we will see a turn around on that issue soon tho....

I took some heat for starting this forum but now there are at least three other board members that don't seem to be so much against it. The biggest issue was negative member comments... but negative member comments are indicative of poor board communication... in my opinion....

Of course having a screaming tantrum in the parking lot after a meeting tends to get people talking too.... :lmao:

I'd love to start talking about the Haunted Halloween plans.... does anyone have any input on that?

A lot of that you can attribute to the "good ol boys" which is why you should get involved. One meeting once a month, and I don't care if its a board meeting or committee meeting. Please at least give it a try.

In light of what took place, you were justified in throwing the temper tantrum I heard about.. :lmao:

Hey... I've been thinking... I'd like to use the campgrounds more this year for the haunted halloween.... lets have the hayride bring them from the lake up to the campgrounds where they go from station to station and then go back to the lake or vice verse..... do you think activities would go for it?

Do you think we could get some volunteers from this forum? or from SOMD.com?

This is turning into a CRE forum

I'm not sure it belongs in this part of the forums any longer unless we consider ourselves as campaigning for next year's election.... I hate to move the forum tho because we seem to be getting something accomplished and I'm not sure everyone would find a new location....

That being said... I had a thought....

We have a lot of companies that make a lot of money off of CRE.... builders, realtors, trash companies, the ice cream ladies, the paving companies, the tree trimmers, the day care centers, the local grocery stores, the local pizza delivery stores, transportation companies, even comcast, walmart, kmart and the list goes on and on and on.... after all we have 3900 homes....

Chesapeake Ranch Estates has certain needs right now...

We need a plan for our server

We need volunteers for our Haunted Halloween

We need volunteers and supplies for our shelters for the Campgrounds

We need to put fountains in our lake and replace the steps down to the lake before a baby picks up a nasty splinter

We need to replace our boat ramp

We need some landscaping

Just to mention a few things....

Up until now we have never required or even asked our venders or home based businesses to come forward.... what if we were to go into the community and ask them to sponsor these and other efforts... tap into these resources.... we must have plenty of geeks, carpenters, and I know we have very talented small business owners in the community as well.... where are they?

Sponsorship could be a good thing for the community.... right?

I'm not suggesting that a vender or home business would have to take on a major project out of their own pocket in order to do business in CRE...

I think what I'm suggesting is the formation of partnerships that will create good relationships for both sides....

The association would not have been able to do this in the beginning because there were only a few homes and this was to be a retirement community... but now there are 3900 homes and we are a thriving community teetering on being our own little town... IMO....it's time we started looking like one and acting like one....

But wait, there's more...

Isn't that what homeowner association dues are supposed to cover? (Assuming you have them) ...

At least the boat ramp and replacement of some "amenities" is what I thought our dues were for. However, the Haunted Halloween thing at the campground sounds fun - don't let it interfere with AnnMarie Gardens thing (people with tables are there until about 4). What would volunteers do there? A Haunted Trail type thing? Could we scare the bejeebees out of some kids? Teenagers to volunteer for it as well?
