We recently got a kitty who is now 5 months old and needs lots of attention. We are going on a vacation for a week soon and can't take her along. What's the best way to go with taking care of her at home? Should I just have the neighbor come over and make sure her food and water are ok, or does she need more? Yes, I am beginning to treat my cat like a baby. LOL. Animals have that affect on me. Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

Who does she seem to be attached to? Is it you or your hubby? In either case, take a shirt from that person that you have worn and leave it on your bed. Have the neighbor come over and talk to her and play with her for a little bit everyday, and of course feed her and water her. Have the neighbor give her some treats to. If you haven't found any she likes, I can almost promise you she will love Temptations treats! She will definitely miss you but she will be fine. Oh and you might want to have neighbor to scoop the litterbox, you don't want to come home to some nasty surprises! Have a fun vacation! :howdy:

I'll have to try the Temptation treats. She always seems to want SOMETHING besides the hard food, but never likes anything. She hates the Pounce treats. I'll try to shirt thing- she sleeps with me every night and HAS to be touching me. LOL.

Make sure to kitty proof your home before you go. After a while alone they seem to go looking for trouble (at least all mine have). Make sure things on your dresser are secure, remeber they like to knock over things and scoot things around. Look for fragile glass or ceramic that can break if they knock it off something. After they break it they want to play in it and will get cut.

My girl kitty won't eat the soft treats unless I moosh them up for her first. Yep, she's spoiled.

I used to work at Petsmart....and when I was bored I'd walk around and smoosh all the cat treats in the bags. :jet: I bet those people weren't happy to get smashed cat treats.
