For Whom the Bell Tolls

This happened a few mornings ago at work....

I work at a large company and we often get wrong numbers on the office phones. My cube-neighbor, Steve, is in the habit of answering all of his calls on speakerphone, which means I have the pleasure of hearing them.

Yesterday morning, his phone rang and he picked up, saying
"[name of company], this is Steve.."

The woman on the other end said "Who is this?"

Steve said "With whom did you wish to speak?"

There was a long pause and the woman said "Did you just say
WHOM?"

Steve: "Yes I did...."

Woman: "I have the wrong number." Click.

Let me tell you...

My daughter had some of the rudest people calling the house. After I say "Hello?" They would say things like...

~~Yo dog! ... is XXX there? My answer- NO (click) :roflmao:

~~Lemme speak to XXX. My answer - Sorry no one's home. (click)

~~Who dis? My answer- You've got the wrong number. :lmao:

...and it went on like that.

She's just moved back home for about two weeks now and I must say these same creeps have excellent phone manners. I get "May I speak to" and "Thank you very much" ...it's amazing!

Got that part, just didn't know why it was funny, sorry...:ohwell:

It's sort of like those commercials for Polaner All-Fruit...where the hick goes "please pass the jelly" and the prudish lady faints, but in reverse. :razz2:

I thought it was funny. :ohwell:
