Ford F-150 RECALL

I put this in the Chit-Chat section so the word could get out quicker.

For those that don't know, Ford is recalling their 2000 and 2001 F-150 pickups, Expeditions, and Lincoln Navigators.

There seems to be an issue with the cruise control. A co-worker here informed us that her husband's truck not only caught fire, but actually exploded due to this malfunction in electrical design.

The fix takes about 15 minutes at a dealership. If you own one of these models PLEASE TAKE ACTION.

Be careful out there and don't park next to any 2000 or 2001 F-150's. ....

From what I understand about this particular discrepancy, the cruise control on this model stays constantly powered from the battery even with the vehicle not running.

Yeah, I read the report and it does state that. A quick fix is to just pull the fuse for the cruise control............

And the Michigan folks wonder why we are buying 'foreign' cars.

*I own a Chevrolet Silverado '99 and it has crappy ABS, shittty fuel pump, gas pedal that sticks, and many other things.........

I think I'm buying a Hundai(sp?) next.........

GM and Ford do have more than their share of problems. I'm a Chrysler/Dodge fan, myself. We have a 95 Caravan with over 100k miles on it that's only had 2 repairs in its life (and is still in great shape and drives like a new one), and a 2002 PT Cruiser that gets over 29MPG and has needed only 1 repair. Before that we had a 95 Concorde that was fault-free (never needed ANY repairs), and before that an 89 LeBaron Turbo GTC that never needed any repairs until a local lube joint burned the engine up for me.
