Civil Justice, Inc. Launches Foreclosure Recovery ProgramBALTIMORE, MD – Civil Justice, Inc. announces the launch of a new program, “Foreclosure Recovery: On Track to Financial Health.” The Foreclosure Recovery Program will assist Marylanders statewide who lost their homes or experienced another foreclosure event and ultimately desire to get back on track to financial health.
Civil Justice has recruited and trained a panel of Foreclosure Recovery Attorneys to provide free and comprehensive consultations to Maryland consumers. Foreclosure Recovery participants will meet with an attorney to address issues including: foreclosure deficiencies, debt collection, rental housing, understanding bankruptcy, municipal liens, and fixing inaccuracies in credit reports. Attorneys will provide the participants with advice about the legal issues they are facing, along with concrete steps for improvement of their financial situation.
Maryland has consistently ranked among the top ten states for foreclosure filings and has a high rate of toxic and junk debt collection cases and fraudulent loans. Consumers who have experienced a foreclosure event are likely to have other credit-related issues and may be vulnerable to unfair and deceptive practices. Having legal advice, direction, and guidance will put the consumers on the path to financial health. “Overall, the goal of the Foreclosure Recovery session is to restore consumer control and confidence over their lives and their future financial health” stated Kathleen Hyland, Associate General Counsel with Civil Justice.
The Foreclosure Recovery Program is funded by a grant from the Maryland Attorney General’s office and the Department of Housing and Community Development.
