Former New York Democrat Congressman Charlie Rangel Dead at 94

Former New York Democrat Congressman Charles Rangel has passed away.

He was 94.

Rangel served 23 terms in Congress. He was elected to Congress in 1970 and retired in 2017.

“A towering figure in American politics and a champion for justice, equity, and opportunity, Congressman Rangel dedicated over four decades of his life to public service,” the Rangel family said in a statement.

NYC Mayor Eric Adams released a statement on Rangel’s death.

“I am so sad to lose a dear friend and exemplary model of devotion and courage. My prayers are with his family, Harlem, and all who knew him,” Adams said.

The one good thing I remember about Rangel the Race Baiter is when Hugo Chavez gave a speech at the UN and raked GWB over the coals. Rangel fired back along the lines of, "You don't come to my country and criticize my President." You could have knocked me over with a feather. Of course Rangel would never do that in this day and age because his own Party would have him lynched.
