Girls found a tuxedo cat last night. Has collar and tags but the vet is closed until Monday 9am. If this is your cat, message me.

OUND CAT UPDATE - Called vet. Vet called number given by owner. Person at that number does not know the owner or anything about a cat. Vet calls Tri-County where the animal was adopted. Calls the number they were given, person at that number does not know the owner or anything about the cat. Vet calls me back and tells me that the whole thing seems shady as the cat(s) were brought in just the end of July. Me: Cats? Vet: There was also a male, same age, probably same litter.

Vet says to take the cat up to TriCounty and tell they them whole story and try to have this person blocked from adopting any more animals. I really don't want to do that because cats are not kept long. I ask if they'll give me the address. They did and also the cats actual name and the name of the male cat so I can see if its running loose.

Sooo......cat was found not far from its home. I think the address was correct but the phone number deal is sketchy. Daughter wants to find the male cat and not let them have them back because they are irresponsible owners. Son wants to adopt the cat regardless of whether we find its brother.

I'm going to have to go over and talk to the people but I don't like the number deal and I don't want to take the cat with me until that's cleared up.....

Opinions?

Not all cats are indoor cats... they had ID on the cat and the cat gets vetted... I don't see where the owner is being too irresponsible to ever get their cat back.

I agree. Just because I'm a paranoid cat nazi, does not mean that everybody else has to be.

Well I know plenty of folks with outdoor cats, but its definitely not the wisest choice for a kitten on a busy road (not that IQ ever comes in to play with pet ownership).

Its just that the vet thinks it is shady to have given two wrong phone numbers. I'm wondering if its not to just avoid bill collection or something. Or maybe they said 301 but meant 240. I don't have the numbers so I can't test the theory.

My cat despises the kitten. Despises her.

If you can't find the owner and you can't keep the cat and you can't in good concious turn it lose to find it's own way home then I vote shelter because it is more humane for them to put it down than it is for it to get run over, maimed, sick and/or starved.

If you trust the address then go visit the family and see if it is there cat.

In most cases, puppies and kittens are acquired for children, who do not understand the dangers to pets in the outdoors. Take the kitty back, and hope for the best...unless you can afford to keep it.

Interesting, there was a tuxedo cat behind my house yesterday that I've never seen before. It took off before I could even open fence gate. I'm on Baptist Church Rd close to 235 though. Do you think it could be the brother that far from Wicomico?? I don't know much about cats...

I was told the brother is solid black.

I saw a tuxedo in my hood this weekend, too. I've read that they are usually the last to be adopted, as most other types are preferred. Have no idea why that is.

Wrote the owners a note telling them the cat was found and to contact the vet if they want it, otherwise I will find it a home.

Told vet to call me if they call there and tell me whether or not to return it.

As of now, I have 3 prospective homes lined up if the owner does not come forth.

Owner wanted the cat. Admitted she lets them run free. Incidentally allowing your animals to run free is against the law. I informed her of this and she blew it off. Animal control officer lives right behind her house. Either this cat will be hit by a car or picked up by AC soon. If I see it squished I will lose it.
