Found dog on Baringer Dr. North Town Creek Manor.

Found this little guy outside our back fence this morning crying and shivering. From the looks of him he has been out for a while, covered with fleas and sores. So far he's had a bath and has been feed, is sleeping nicely in my laundry basket right now.

If he is your please call 301-xxx-xxxx, this is the best shot we could get of him right after we brought him in the house.

We are getting ready to take him to the vet to see if he is chipped.

I think that is the little one that lives down from me on Shady Mile....it's been escaping a lot more lately....not sure of the address, but the house is across the street from the guy that has the half a million blow up ornaments on his yard(house is off the road slightly and there should be a dark colored pick up in the driveway)

May want to check there before going to the Vet

Yea the dog was not in too good of shape when I picked him up, he was
soaking wet, shivering and nothing but skin and bones. Wrapped him in towels and put him in the tub to keep him away from our dog until they could get properly introduced.

He looked hunger so I gave him one of those Gaines Burger pouches which he wolfed down in a heart beat. Wife said he smelled like he rolled in his is own stuff so gave him a warm bath (that's when I noticed the fleas) then wrapped him in towels and put him in our laundry basket. Was getting ready to head to the vet with him to see if he was chipped but "Thing 2" said he thought it was one of our derelict neighbors dog so we took him over and their young girls said it was theirs so we returned him to them. I was not happy with the condition he was in but he is their dog so I had no right to keep him, besides, I don't have the money for a second dog.

That little dog is one of the most pitiful and precious creatures I have ever seen.:huggy: You were very kind to him, and most likely saved his life. I know you will worry about him because it doesn't sound like he is well taken care of, but you did all you could. I have a feeling, if he escapes again, he will head straight back to your house.

Its so sad to have to return a dog to a home like that. Were they even looking for him I wonder.

I hope he does return to you, that is IF you'd be willing to take him in, and care for him. He looks to be an old Dog, and it would be wonderful if he could spend his last years with someone that cares. If he does come back, ask the people if you can have him. You might be surprized at their answer. Or just hang on to him, and see how long it is before they come looking. Either way, you are good people to have cared enough to bathe him, and give him a nice meal.

Wife and I have discussed keeping him if he does return but sadly I doubt we will. We doubt he is up to date on his shots and everything so the medical bills he would rack up in order to bring him up to date on shots/etc is more then we can handle.

Plus, we just recently went through having an older dog with lots of medical expenses and am not looking forward to going through that again. Our older dog was with us for 14 years (rescued from the pound when we lived in Va Bch) and we had to have him put down after his back legs gave out and he could no longer move around the house, it was a painful thing to do but had to be done. Now, our current dog is only 3, healthy and a joy to have around, not looking to take on another dog that would require lots of medical care.

If he shows up I will not ignore him, he will be care for until I can take him back, but we can't keep him.

Also, thanks to everyone for their thoughts and posts. It was a rather exciting way to spend a Saturday morning and gave me a reason to make my first post on SOMD Forums.

I know what you are talking about with huge Vet Bills. My two dogs cost us near $600 this month alone. It is a huge resposiibility to care for them. I wasn't thinking when I took our Deaf Dog to the regular Vet, and that's where it cost me the big bucks. I just wanted her to get better. In Calvert County, we have a well Pet Clinic where you can get shots, Heart Worm medicine, and reduced fee, or FREE Spay/Neuter at about half the price of a regular Vet. My new Pup was spayed for free there in November. The Office Visit is just $10.00. After the initial visit to the regular Vet, we continued her care at the Well Pet Clinic. She's all better now thankfully. I'm sorry about your 14 year old Dog. It's never easy is it? Happy New Year to you.
