Found: Two Beagles

On Blake Creek Road in Valley Lee. They've been running around for months. Not sure if they live on this road or not. The female has given birth recently and is really skinny. The male looks like he's been fed somewhere. Both are infested with ticks and look sick. They will get a bath and flea and tick collars. I am calling animal control tomorrow to find out if they have been reported. If they may be yours PM me and tell me the color of the collars they already have on. If no one claims them, I'm going to try and keep them.

I wonder where her puppies are
If they are heavily infested with fleas, you can bathe them with dawn diswashing soap to kill them. Then, I would follow up with a good pet shampoo.

I'm thinking the worst for her puppies. She looks like she wasn't getting food so I'm guessing she wasn't able to feed them. I looked around the area where I found them and down the road where they last were coming out but I couldn't find them.

Thanks for the tip about the dawn. I'll give it a try.

I'm going out tomorrow morning and look around some more. There are a lot of foxes around here but I'm hoping the puppies are around somewhere. They could be anywhere. I'm going to stay around this end since the dogs came out of a road near here.

I had a rescued female like that, we never found any pups and she was emaciated and dried up. Is this one dried up?

No, she isn't. I looked everywhere in the areas that I had seen the dogs running and couldn't find any puppies. I found plenty of ticks though.

Good luck with the dogs! Maybe you could put momma on a long lead and see if she takes you to them?

I did try having the two of them help me but it didn't work. They kept finding different scents and leading to nothing.

They're Mine!!!

They went to the shelter and no one claimed them so I adopted them.

Oh I love beagles.

Please tell me that you didnt have to pay the adoption fee since you found them? What did you turn them over to the shelter first...

:yahoo: They look beautiful and right at home! Next step is the spaying and neuturing (if needed). If you need info on low cost options just ask.

Great job on adopting them.

I sent them to the shelter because I didn't have any where set up to keep them while I looked for their owners. I checked with some people on this road and no on knew of anyone having beagles. I wanted to give the owners a chance to check with the shelter and claim the dogs if they were going to. I did pay to adopt them but it would have been much more expensive if I paid for the spaying and neutering myself. Now they are spayed and neutered and got a check up and rabies shots. He has hookworms but they gave me medicine for that. I did have to pay for the extras like medicine but it was still cheaper. My daughter is ecstatic, the dogs got to stay together and he will be healthy soon. No harm no foul. They will be spoiled rotten.

What a great story, thank you, it's refreshing to hear about these types of stories! I had never been around beagles until I pulled a couple from the shelter, I was amazed at how sweet and loving they are!

Thanks so much for what you did!

I used to always think Beagles wouldn't make good pets because people always said the just want to follow the trail. These two are the most loveable well behaved dogs I have ever seen. I am very happy that we are keeping them. Thank you for your positive vote of confidence.

My brother built his two dogs the most incredible heated and air conditioned dog house, and boy is it a house. My husband wants to build one for these two. He already has plans and is going to ask my brother to help him. When I said before they were going to be spoiled, I wasn't kidding. I think he's more excited about the whole thing than anyone. LOL

They will be in the house at night and when we are home. Don't worry they won't spend all of their time out there alone.

I believe she said they would be in the house with them when they are home. Sounds like the dogs have found a very good home.

They will be inside pets but they love being outside so much we are going to let them be out when we are at work. They will have a nice house to go in and out of, and plenty of water and food. They don't really want to be in the house. When we bring them in they pull back and sit down at the bottom of the steps and we have to carry them in and then they sit at the sliding doors and look out and whine. The male keeps having accidents in the house. My fear is because they have hookworms, if he craps in the house they will be in the carpet if it's at night and I don't find it right away. I am a very light sleeper anyway because I have a child, but I didn't hear him get up once last night and he peed on the carpet. Needless to say I won't be getting much sleep until the worms are gone and he is potty trained. The female goes to the door to be taken out.
