Wawa is celebrating it's 55th anniversary by offering customers a free coffee of any size.
You can get your free coffee any time of the day, but are limited to one free coffee per person.

Do you have to stop by the register or can you just grab a cup and hit the door?

I'm pretty sure you would have to hit the register. The free cup is to draw you in. Most folks will pick up other stuff too especially since you have to stand in line regardless.
