Free-Roaming Cats

We have a few cats in my neighborhood that seem to be outdoor all the time. Sometimes I walk out to my truck and I see tiny footprints on the hood, which bothers me slightly. Two days ago, a brave black & white kitty was in my backyard, roaming around...WITH Jinx (Boxer) in the backyard. Jinx killed a cat roughly 2 years ago, so I was worried for the kitty. Hubby almost ran over an orange tiger the other night because the cat darted across the road. We live in a small community at the beginning of a cul-de-sac, so it's not like people drive fast (well, most don't).

I just worry about these cats and what *could* happen to them. :ohwell:

My kitties are house kitties although I've had cats that went outside. I wasn't so concerned with cars, but other roaming cats and wildlife (foxes) were a problem.

I was tired of my cats being beat up on their own deck and spending a ton of money to fix their boo-boos.

Last winter when I fired up my car, I heard a loud screech and out ran a cat with no tail. Apparently he was sleeping in a bad place.

Did you give him a Band-Aid?

There are cat rescue groups who could help spay/neuter/return these cats if you need assistance?

So if I neuter or spay a feral cat and release them, the chipmunk they hunt down and kill tomorrow will come back to life?? How about the humming birds, or the blue birds, or the cardinals.. will they just get back up and fly away??
