She was first denied in her application for citizenship in 2005 for reasons of "insufficient assimilation." Her appeal to the Council of State, which has final authority over immigration disputes, was rejected in June.

"She has adopted a radical practice of her religion, incompatible with essential values of the French community, particularly the principle of equality of the sexes," the Council of State ruled, according to Reuters. This is reportedly the first time a Muslim has been denied because of religious practices.

While I kind of get the concept of "insufficient assimilation", doesn't the principle of equality mean that she gets the CHOICE to be submissive or not? To me, the concept is pretty stupid (the Muslim concept of wrapping a woman up like that to keep men from acting out), but if she chooses to live like a domesticated animal, isn't that her choice.

I remember when Nuns wore Burka's, They called them "Habits" but they were pretty much the same thing only they didnt hide their face. Those who wanted to hide their faces went into Cloisters.

Of course they didnt breed children to turn into suicide bombers either.\\

I dont think the problem here is so much with the Burka as it is with the growing reputation for breeding terrorists and followers of the religion of hate that comes with them.

Possibly they just didn't want another possible terrorist and this was an easy excuse.
