Fresh Fish at Giant

I bought some fresh mako shark at Giant last week. It was really good. They now have some signs up in the fish department that tells you what is fresh. I was impressed with the Mako shark. I just baked it with lemon and butter and it had the texture of fresh tuna. Just thought I'd let people know. NOT PREVIOUSLY FROZEN and darn good. Next time I'll marinate it.

I'd think all their fish products should be fresh

If you look closely, most of them say "previously frozen." The fresh stuff I got was great. I hate fish, but DR likes to have it a couple times a week, so I try to go for the fresh, non-fishy tasting stuff.

Giant does have tasty seafood! And, I'm not sure if he's still there, but they used to have a tasty looking seafood guy too!

I'm not big on fish either so generally, I make sure to put a super good batter on it and put it on so that its thicker than the fish, than slather all over with a special recipie tarter sauce

We get tilapia from there. If they ever have it, try basa. It is hard to come by around here but it is GOOD.

How expensive is Tilapia? I'd like to cook some for myself but I can't use butter or anything. (Maybe a little bit of PAM cooking spray and olive oil)

Any Ahi Tuna there?

If it doesn't taste fishy there must be something wrong with it.

Indeed. I think fresh is a relative term here and not to be compared to a brook trout right out of your creel, cooked alongside a mountain stream immediately after catching and cleaning.

Still flopping in the pan. That's the best.

The gay one?
 Perhaps. I put my gaydar on "silence" as I haven't used it for the two purposes for which it was invented - sifting for me or searching for my princesses in the past who adorned me with Abba albums and called me their favorite Hag.... :diva:

Tilapia is between $4.99 - $7.99/lb. Shoppers usually has it for less, I believe. You could use cooking spray, a little lemon and nuke it. It's good that way. I haven't seen the Ahi Tuna there, but I haven't looked for it either.

Ha! So you finally admit that microwaving is a good way to cook it! :lmao:
And you don't need cooking spray for that either. (nasty)

Well, I don't really think it's that good, but it's okay and it's edible.
