So. Is there anywhere around that has good fried clams, and a LOT of em? Back when I was a kid up in the N.E. we used to hit the seafood shacks and you got a PLATE of fried clams. Heck I'd even settle for strips if they were done good!

ANywhere?

Mmmm fried clams! I'm a Cape Cod native and haven't found any good fried clams around here. How about some stuffed quahogs or steamers? I got some quahogs at the house! :buddies:

What are they, fried then frozen? I don't have a deep fryer... if I was going to go that route, I'd batter em myself and all.

No, I want a sit down meal with a big monstrous plate of fried clams....

Sacrilege! Fried? They must be eaten whole (steamed) dipped in broth to remove the sand and then dunked in buttah (clarified buttah)

Howard Johnson's used to have the best fried clam strips. I had some good ones at Sandgates or the other seafood restaurant down that way (Hollywood?) Not good enough to get me back.

I would pay a mint for some nice quahogs. I've been watching the Food Network today and there is a place in Boston I must visit.

What part of "settle for" do you not understand?

:lmao:

Settling for strips is not settling for clams. IMO it is settling anything that is fried. Have fried oysters. Have fried dog poo. None of those will be delicious, full belly fried clams from N.E. :neener:

And how many hours as a kid did YOU spend raking clams on the mud flats by Mackworth Island, eh missy? I eat my clams the way I like 'em. Pshaw.... Wannabes.
I think I lost at least a dozen shoes to that muck... :lmao:

My dad used to steam them... didn't take but a few years to get burned out on steamed clams AND lobster, when your dad raked and ran traps for a hobby... Lobster was like hotdogs. Big water cockroach is really all it is. :lmao:

I've never raked a clam, but I would if given the opportunity.

Lobster...

I ordered a six pounder stuffed with lobster and ate it all. I wish I could remember the name of the place. It was near or in Somerset, MA.

Google is my friend, but it was a huge catering facility that also had onsite dining.

Well if you like Fried Shrimp, you have to go to Revere Beach north of Boston and hit Kelly's Roast Beef. Park on the sea wall, get a bucket of fried shrimp and munch. For full effect, do this during a NorthEaster when the surf is jusssst starting to pound on the seawall. :lmao: :yay:
