Fried Klondike Bar

ok I attempted to deep fry a klondike bar this evening.

It was a failure. The ice cream in a klondike bar is too soft.

I wrapped it in pie crust first then in the oil at 375 degrees.

the ice cream melted before the crust browned. The chocalate was not melted:shrug:

I think I could make it work if I used hagan daz cause that is much harder ice cream.

any thoughts on this process?

If the oil was hotter it might work better

It's gonna be tough. I've had Klondikes in the deep freezer (0 *) and they are still relatively soft. No matter what you do, it's gonna melt unless you can get it in and out of the oil in 10 seconds or less. Maybe try a different ice cream that is more solid to begin with.

How about freezing the wrapped Klondike for a day or so ahead of time, it may help keep the ice cream firmer while it's cooking. I've tried fried cheesecake, brie, oreo's, twinkies, pickles, apple pie, strawberry pie, croissants filled with various stuff, olives and quite a few things I can't even remember. I got bored one winter day almost a lifetime ago:) Most of the stuff was great.

:lmao: No, I use my old boots as flower planters on all the gates. I do make boot and horse cookies complete with spots. :howdy:

I just bought a new fryer today so I got plans.

I gave up the fry daddy a long time ago and have been relegated to just my cast iron skillet.

now I got the new fryer ITS ON!!!!

Curly locks!
I bet if you stuck the Klondike bar in a cooler with dry ice, it would harden up enough to fry it

Maybe try something other than pie crust.

I use corn flakes, sugar, eggs, and cinnamon, mix it all together and use it as a dip for fried ice cream. :yay:

Klondike Bar
Klondike Bars (vanilla ice cream surrounded by milk chocolate) were dipped in Twinkie Batter and placed in oil. As the ice cream inside began to lose structural integrity, the bars were removed and served. 75% of subjects preferred fried Klondike Bars to raw.
