Fried ravioli

One of my neighbors made it for a pot luck and it was way better than what I've had in restaurants. Publix had Rana fresh ravioli on sale so I bought a few packs.

  • Dip the ravioli in milk, then dredge in bread crumbs.
  • Set them aside to rest while you heat the oil for frying.
  • Once the oil is hot enough, fry until golden brown.
  • Garnish with grated parm and parsley, serve with warm marinara.
  • Or just eat them and forget the fansy fixins.
I thought it would be more of a PITA than what it was. I did a tester where I boiled the ravioli first, then fried them, and where I just fried them straight out of the package. It made no difference in taste or texture, so boiling the ravioli isn't necessary.

I bet you'd like them as a lasagna.

Boil the ravioli al dente, the Rana square ricotta and spinach works best, layer your choice of marinara sauce, al dente ravioli, any cooked meat you may desire, (I like Eye-talion sausage), and mozzarella, and repeat.

Choose the size baking dish for the amount of layers you want and bake on 350 degrees for about 45min. Top with some parm if you like. :yay:

I've bought the pre-made frozen ones, and the texture was awful. Like rocks. But not sure I want to invest the time to make them.

Different ways to make it...put the veggies and meat you want.

Hey Sneaks, try it with Rana brand, Rana is only refrigerated. If you boil it al dente it doesn't get mushy and take less time in the oven. I've never tried it with frozen brands.
Is it spicy? I got some Rana pasta (lasagna?) at Aldi and it had enough red pepper in it to really make it uncomfortable.

Ah, you have given me an idea! I have lobster ravioli and I suspect there isn't enough lobster in them to make a difference. So now I'm going to get some lobster and crab meat and make a seafood lasagna.

Word advice, not the crab and lobster ravioli from Aldi. I bought it once and it was horrible. I threw it out. I was very disappointed.
