Here's what we do. We go and take up all of his parking spots, then as soon as willie arrives on the lot, we get in our cars and drive away. sooner or later, willie will get tired of arriving at the bowling alley and leaving empty handed. Long won't be able to do anything until he issues us notices not to treaspass, and the police won't do anything until that is done. We win, Willie and Long looses. Well...flawed plan, because although we are here, I am sure we all have lives and probably don't want to hang out in the bowling alley parking lot. But in a perfect world, vengeance would be ours! And thanks to the guy who started this thread. I hate people like Long, who prey on the unknowing. The lot is not that well posted that everyone will know.

Oh..and to the idiot who gave the guy crap and called him stupid for posting this...get a life. I am sure because of your mental capabilities, the only place you can hang out is the bowling alley, but that is no reason to attack a guy doing a public service.

4 am 4 5gal cans of gas ....... to soak into his nice new parking lot

ought to help break it up nicely, or maybe diesel cause its not so flammable

I just had a friend of mine call because she wanted to have her daughters birthday party there. They told her she had to come in, in order to place a reservation. They also told her they couldn't take her credit card either or check. She would have to pay in cash. She said they were very nasty and she told them they were not user friendly. She ended up going to Lord Calver Bowl in Huntingtown instead. I guess they don't care about bringing in business.

Avis offers one way to or from the airport without mileage.. Hertz HAS to be losing a lot of business because of the mileage..

Become a member of Avis Preferred Member Service. They have 1-way rentals and decent rates.

If you rent from hertz you have to park on the other side of the building by the bank. I think it's shady as well, but what can you do.

dont be dumb
That place is such a dump, its crap like this place that adds to the atmosphere in this part of the state. Run down, close minded, entrenched and not gonna change for anything. Be kinda nice if the place were torn down and started fresh....

I talked to enterprize and the management said to get a quote from Hertz and they will match it or do better. I'm going to PA for a week and they did just that. Enterprise beat them and I got an extra day with the car. Screw Hertz/Hewitt! Yea maybe it isn't their fault but it's not my fault that they can't control Dave Long's sorry ass!

To be brutally honest, I've rented from Enterprise, Avis and Hertz and of the three Hertz has the least cooperative employees and the worst fleet and prices. But for some reason corporate policy dictates we rent from Hertz.

Esperanza bowling center has been the lone bowling alley (not including Pax River and Dunkirk) for a good many years now. Dave Long knows it and he knows what customers he has, knows it. I stopped going there the first time they told me I had to give them one of my shoes before I could rent a pair of theirs because people were stealing them! That was 12-13 years ago.

Long knows he has the only public alley in this area, so he can do whatever he wants. While growing up in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern KY area, all bowling centers opened by 8:00AM on the weekends. Long might open by noon on Saturdays. Unless you are in a league during the week, you won't see them opening until 6:00PM. And now he has cars towed which may be parked in front of his place. What, he has someone watching "his" parking lot 24/7? Too bad the St. Mary's County Department of Economic and Community Development won't entice a company/group (such as AMF) to come here and build a modern, state-of-the-art bowling and entertainment complex (take a look at Jillian's in Arundel Mall next time you're there).

Yep been there one time and one time only to bowl. They said they had to hold on to one of my shoes as collateral. I scoffed at the lady and told her my one shoe cost more than 3 pairs of your hideous bowling shoes. Never went back and don't care to. Oh and its dave and busters in arundel. Jillian's is at waterside in norfolk, va.

Freak 'em out and hand them a shoe from another bowling alley.

Friendly Bowling Alley Management

First, let me tell you if you do a case search, Mr. Long has been taken to court for towing someone's car and Mr. Long had to pay the man back!! Take him to court!!! He doesn't have a lawyer in the family anymore - he's been disbarred!!!

Second, my boss had his car towed and called the bowling alley about it and all he heard from them is how you people from NAVAIR moved here and caused the roads to be widened and part of their parking lot is 235 now! You get what you deserve (note my boss happens to work at NAVAIR but is a St. Mary's County native)(he'll never use Esperanza Lanes again).

Mr. Long may be getting a kick back from Willie's towing, but Mr. Hewitt isn't. He has talked to the Longs (husband and wife) over and over again and it is no use. He has no recourse. Please note that all the overflow from the evening bowling leagues park in Mr. Hewitt's lot. Mr. Hewitt does not tow them to get even with Mr. Long because it doesn't hurt Mr. Long it hurts others.

Esperanza is hardly ever open, their leagues sizes are getting smaller, he did away with the youth league on Saturday morning (he said it was too hard to get up on Saturday morning for the kids because he's open late on Friday night). They don't bring in enough money, so he's closed on Sat a.m. The kids that could went to the base, and the others went to Calvert.

If any of you have a solution, we'd all be willing to hear it.

From the case search files. You are correct, Mr. Long did lose a case.

That reminds me of what my Aunt and Uncle used to tell me about Norfolk back in the day. You know the old signs that said "Dogs and Sailors Keep Off The Grass". Like the city would be there without the Navy.

Actually it was in the county charter that no other bowling alleys were allowed in St marys County........pays to be a good ole boy eh?

Hate to drum up an old thread. But does anyone who rents at Hertz know of a place in the near vicinity to park for a few days? Anywhere over at San souci?
