has anyone comparision shopped locally? who has the best price?

I was wondering the same thing just yesterday. I bet there are places to buy from online, with better prices, that I don't know about. Looking forward to the responses.

Which product (brand) do you prefer?

All my pets are under 25 lbs so they tend to do well with whatever I treat them with but for some reason, Frontline doesn't work for my tabby cat; therefore, we use Advantage.

And in my prior posting, I meant to say "You may find others have a better product suggestion." I left off the word suggestion there. Once you start searching through the reviews, you will see that certain breeds of dogs don't seem to do well with certain products.

Thanks for the online links, does anyone know who has the lowest price locally (st mary's county) as we are having an itchy scratchy outbreak here..

Generally, if I keep my dog treated, because my cats are indoor only I don't have to treat them, but this morning I see a lot of itching going on!

I've heard well pet clinic is the least expensive, but does anyone know if they carry the frontline plus or just the regular frontline?
I need for 4 cats and 1 dog ... last time I bought at vet for everyone it was $165.00

which I have no problem with I love my animals, but these days gotta save where you can.

You can get the Frontline Plus for 88-132 pound dogs and use it on everyone..cats & dogs. It's all how much you use on them. You will need a small syringe (no needle) to get the proper dosage. My vet gave me the breakdown a few years ago. It's a money saver. PM me and I'll give you the dosage info.

thats interesting... my "crazy chow dog" doesn't do well with regular frontline.. but frontline plus does work.

Another thing that was odd with him is the vet gave me ace-pro (?) to calm him down before visit (he has issues...) and I gave it to him at noon and by 5 pm no effects... then @ midnight poor guy couldn't even hold his head up!

he is a chow and german spitz mix

I have heard the same thing. What an insane mark-up the vet puts on meds. Good grief. $165.00 is robbery.

Yeah.. I think I will stop by the well pet clinic and check, no offense to the Vets, but I would rather any profit go to A rescue group. Plus I always pick up a few toy mice there for the kitties.....

But it's a very dangerous place for me to go into!!!! All those beautiful animals up for adoption!

Acepromazine can be bad stuff. It will kill a Boxer..they should NEVER be given ace.

Look into Rescue Remedy to calm him down. It's natural and may just work for your guy.

We had to tranquilize our mixed breed (65 pounds?), and could only use 1/4 a tab of ACE. Even with that his eyelids were turning inside out. But nothing else worked at all.

Iv'e heard of that, yeah he is just a tad excitable! I took him to the doggy shrink in Prince Frederick and my vet is very patient with him...

he has that chow " you may look at me... but don't touch me" thing going on

Had a friend tell me "why don't you just get rid of him and get a normal dog?"

I told him, well he may not like you but he loves me and when I adopted him I made a commitment to him.

My experience with the ace pro, 1 tab did nothing what so ever, and it was 2 tabs at noon that never kicked in till midnight!

someone suggested it was something to do with the "cold breed dogs" ? like the huskies, spitz , etc. maybe their genetics?

it was really bad, he was afraid of a muzzle at the time.. but now he is ok with one.

Well thanks everyone for your input! better get going.. lots of stops to make today!

Found out the Well Pet Clinic in Lexington Park does have the Frontline Plus and you can buy just one dose if you want!

Ace-Pro stands for Acepromazine, its a general sedative/tranq. I've used it a lot with horses and I know you can use it on dogs/cats. It will not work if your dog is already stressed, they literally blow right through it. Although, once they finally settle the effects can be seen. Its really common with horses. Usually with the horses we give them a shot at breakfast time many many hours before its needed so by time the effects are necessary they arent so stressed it doesn't work. Hopefully this makes sense, and helps.

That is where I get mine for all of the furry folks. They do not discount though even if you buy several. It is 15 dollars per dose and 45 dollars for a box of three. The price is the same for Advantics and Frontline Plus. I was told after I purchased the Advantics that the Frontline Plus is better as it protects against ticks too. Catt is also correct in that you can purchase a higher poundage dose and divy it to cover your smaller pets as well. If you decide you want individual doses you can stop by anytime they are open and purchase what you like. Also just to let you know that they do well check and illness visits as well as all annual checkup and shots for really reasonable rates. My daughter's friends mother is the non surgical vet there and she is great and another of my daughter's friends is a vet assistant there. They have saved us a fortune.
