Frontline not working?

I've used Frontline Plus for YEARS on my dogs and cats, and for the first time, it is not working this year. I now have fleas in the house, and I can't get rid of them off of the pets. I switched to Advantage/Advantix - it seems to be working on the dogs (Advantix), but not so well on the cats (Advantage). Anyone else have similar problems? Any suggestions?

Yes, same thing with my dogs. Bombed the house twice and switched to Advan. Vet said it can take up to 3 months for the eggs to die. Have noticed that they are not on the dogs as bad. Good luck

I had problems with Frontline not working last year. Treated them all summer and they had fleas all summer. I switched to Advantage for everyone, and haven't had a single problem since. I haven't even needed to treat anyone since spring. :yay:

Been using flea and tick shampoo every couple weeks and only found 2 ticks all year. Had about the same results with Frontline.... besides, the beagle needs a bath at least every other week...

I haven't seen any ticks or fleas on my dogs yet (knock on wood), but my vet warned me the fleas have built up a resistance to Frontline. He suggested a new product called Vectra 3d. I had just ordered a three month supply of Frontline, so I haven't tried this out yet. My vet said another advantage to this product is that is repels and kills ticks rather than killing them after they bite the dog, which is how Frontline works.

Has anyone tried Vectra? If so, what do you think?

We switch it up throughout the year. Frontline is the only one that treats ticks. So I used it in the spring. Revolution and Advantix are the others we use. One of them treats ear mites.

I guess the flea eggs build atolerance to it or something (just guessing) so if you wait a few cycles the Frontline is effective again.

We have used frontline on Zeus since he was a pup. He has never had fleas and he is almost 10. We now have 3 dogs, never seen a flea. We have found a few ticks here and there though. Maybe we have just been lucky with fleas. I feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with them, they are a pain.

Had problems with frontline last year with ticks. One vet told me also that the frontline wasn't working as good as it used to. Using Biospot this year, so far no fleas/ticks.

bruno had fleas once this year but that was it. It was due to the vets office telling me that i didn't need to put frontline on the dog as it was too early when i told them no it wasn't and I needed to get some (they ignored me).

Thanks all for your inputs. I will have to wait a little while and see how the Advantix/Advantage works on my dogs/cats. I really liked Frontline...too bad its not working.
