Frontline Plus is having very little impact the fleas!

how much does your dog weigh and what strength do they have him/her on. Bruno only weighs 89 they I think have her on the 50 to 100lbs instead of the one that the lower dose. You might want to see if your vet will let u go to the next dose up if its closer to the upper number for the weight. I also found another thing that works is if you put it on a few days earlier than the date they are due for it again. Like bruno is due on the 16th I will put it on her on the 12th instead of waiting til the exact date to do it.

Biospot has caused problems in many animals..I wouldn't use it.

oh really I did not know that, I have used biospot on my lab for 7 years and have never had a problem with fleas and only found one tick throughout the seven years. What kind of problems has Biospot caused?

I nearly bought it for my pet (the other ones are crazy 'spensive) so I googled it first, apparently there have been problems with sensitivity and sickness. Though..if you have been using it for years with no problems..Keep on keepin on..obv your dog doesn't have a problem with it :killingme

That is scary because I just googled it and found the below website. My lab has never had a problem but after reading some of the comments/lawsuits I am scared to use it again. However it does talk about issues with Frontline as well. I guess each pet is different with their possible reactions to the product.

Buy yourself a pump sprayer and treat your yard and hard floor and kennel / crates with fipronil or permethrin AND IGR twice a year, or have an exterminator do it.

Then get a big jar of Flea Stoppers and do your carpets.

After that, almost anything on your dogs will finish the job.

To truly control it, you hit the SOURCE. That is your yard.

We switched to Advantix, we were not happy with Frontlines effect on ticks. I guess Frontline allows ticks to attach, but Advantix does not. We have seen 0 ticks on the pups since we switched. As far as fleas, both worked well for fleas so it seemed.

zip it... till you know what you are talking about....

first things first... FLP DOES NOT come in 50 -100 lbs.... :duh:

and you should NEVER DOSE UP (unless your dog is very close to the next weight.. like a lb or two) you will be asking for trouble ......

it comes in 45-88lbs
89-132 lbs..... so if you are using this one... the vet gave you the right one

------------------------------------------ in general.......
NEVER give you pet a bath right before applying the product... most of these products get absorbed thru the hair follicles.... so follow the guidelines on waiting after or before bathing to apply.

if Frontline is still not working for ya... try Vecta 3-D ..... I have heard great things about this... only down side is it has more to apply and there is a from what someone said a slight odor. But great coverage :yay:

the funny thing is ... the main ingredient this is the main ingredient that is in Advantix ... and the second is the second ingredient in Frontline plus

The main reason there are issues is people like JP using a dose that is above the weight limit of their dogs, and not applying it correctly.

or putting it on cats.... any pyrethrins /Permethrin product if fatal to cats

Yeah I looked and compared them at the pet store..to see if like some generics, it was the same thing. And noticed it was a different combo..which some online sites said may be the issue. I don't take internet as gospel, but I wasn't sure enough to risk it with the mongrel. Esp since the price difference is quite extreme.

I have used it for MANY years... I have used Advantix and didnt find it to work as well as Biospot... I have used Frontline and dont like it....

I like the coverage I get from Biospot better... just for the fact its the main ingredient that is better with the TICK coverage :yay:... oohhh hence why my dogs that spend most of the time in the woods with me didnt get many ticks.... or Lyme this year :yahoo:

Im going to try Vecta soon.... same thing... be careful if you have cats in the house..... toxic to them when wet.

I use Sentinel but that's only good if you aren't having problems with fleas and ticks already. We also spray our yard. We have a Malamute and if she ever got a flea or tick, we'd never find it under all that hair. I tell my husband that the fleas and tick that jump on her just give up after awhile because they get too tired trying to get to her actual skin. They just move onto an easier target.
