Frozen food rant

I got stupid and bought a bunch of Macaroni Grill frozen entrees. I've eaten two, the lasagna and the chicken parm, and they were HORRIBLE. Lean Cuisines are better than that - at least you get what you expect.

And the lasagna package says it contains 3 servings at 310 calories per. This is a lie. The package is ONE serving - once you get all the wrapping off, there isn't much food in there. And that makes it over 900 calories per serving, which is just ridiculous. I can make healthy homemade lasagna that is fabulous, and it's only 400 calories for a hefty piece.

And don't get me started on the chicken parm. It's so easy to make homemade that I have no idea why I bought this crap, because it was terrible. Supposedly there are 2.5 servings in the package, but in reality there is ONE 800 calorie serving. And the chicken isn't even a fried breast, it's naked chicken chunks in tomato sauce over angel hair. What slaps on the calories is the mound of icky cheese they give you for it.

So there's your frozen food review for the day. I have a package of MG Pasta Milano that is going in the trash so it won't take up anymore space in my freezer.

I have yet to find any kind of frozen dinner I like. I gave up and don't buy it at all.

What about frozen desserts?

Pretty much just ice cream. I buy those skinny cow ice cream sandwiches. Low fat and yummy. I keep them at work for cravings. Apparently, someone at work feels they should help themselves to them whenever they feel the need and should leave the empty container in the freezer for me. I will catch him one day.

BL hides his popsicle in the freezer and you know that has to be low fat. :yay:

That's really interesting, considering how good the macaroni grill is. You think they'd do better than that in frozen.

I went to a Marie Callendar's in La Jolla a few years back. Apparently, the frozen food line is independant of the restaurant chain, save for the name and appearance of the line. I want to say that it was better, financially to separate the industries for any number of reasons.

I think Stauffers frozen stuff is pretty good. Homemade mac & cheese is the best, but theirs makes a great substitute if you don't have time to make it. We try not to eat their stuff much, because it's probably not the best for ya.

Vrai, from the Inuit 'one who tries' and the Spanish 'blonday' or 'new things' thus, one who tries new things.

I'll have to do more research toverify this. There may be other interpretations. Let's see what Brecht has to say...

Same here. I don't like any "frozen dinners" thing. I prefer homemade meals because they taste better. Most of the frozen dinners or boxed packages have "trans fat" or some kind of chemical in it that can affect the taste of the food.
