It's called "Spot the expired tag!"

I drive the main roads daily around here and have noticed every.. single.. day... that there are countless people driving around with expired tags/plates. I have decided to make a little game of seeing how many I can spot on a daily basis. Yesterday, I was on Rte 235 SB headed towards the Park and decided to count. Here is my final tally AND the longest holdout/dirtbag I saw:

Total: 6 expired tags
Longest expired: 7/21

This was during a 40 minute round trip ride!

And just remember, these folks w/o current registration, most likely are uninsured. If they hit you, you're SOL on car repairs and transportation while it's in the shop. Unregistered vehicles driven on our roads should be impounded and sold at auction.

This is what happens when the MVA operations were suspended for Covid and the decision was made to postpone driver's license/tag renewals.

Now, that suspension ended awhile ago but people have just ignored it and MVA hasn't yet caught up with the backlog of notifications.

Meanwhile, over here in Calvert Deputies were pulling people over and impounding their cars even when the postponement was in effect. Then again, they also were stopping people and checking their "travel papers" early on in the pandemic.

Doesn't seem to be ANY enforcement here in St. Mary's. At least, I cannot believe there is any when I see at least 5-6 expired tags every single day driving the roads over here. Actually, there doesn't seem to be any enforcement of ANY traffic-related issues here. Maybe too busy with those weekend speed traps :sshrug:

They are busy with crime prevention, keeping the tards from shooting each other.

I can listen to the nightly races up and down Rt 235, illegally loud exhaust systems, and absolutely no enforcement.
Someone needs to drop a couple buckets full of these in front of them.

Cool! Give them something else to do other then drive. It isn't like texting, internet surfing, eating, putting on makeup, reading the paper or book, or doing whatever the Hell they are doing is enough of a distraction.

I had "travel papers" from 2 utilities, one gov't. agency, and 2 telecommunication companies, never missed any work, never had to show papers. I was hoping to get told to go home so I could get me some of that "Scamdemic" (work from home) vacation time.

Longest expired: 5/22 (this one was pulling on to PAX!)
That's it? We've got'em expired for years over here. Hell, some cars have different plates on the front and back. Longest one I saw was actually two cars a couple years ago. They were owned by a couple, one car was six years out, the other was seven.

Not really. That is just what I saw while I was out at lunch today. 30 minute round trip!
Which begs the question. If I can see this every.. single.. day, why is it that the MSP/Sheriffs cannot? I am guessing that since these registrations have lapsed that their insurance has also lapsed. Meanwhile MY insurance rate goes up because, and I quote from my carrier "Due to escalating uninsured motorist accidents in your area."

With the number of plate readers on police cars ever increasing, why is there a need to have stickers? The readers can check the status. Some states no longer issue stickers.

Check out the tags on the Audi

Interesting. Begs the question, if someone were to get into an accident and the opposing vehicle has expired tags, are they automatically "at fault" regardless of the situation?

Saw one this weekend. Was on the road on a quick run to the grocery.

No, I know someone who ran a red light and T-Boned someone. It turned out the person they T-Boned was driving a stolen car. They tried to no avail to make the argument they were not at fault cause the person they hit had stolen that car.
