Fundraisers......

...how does the majority feel about them. Recently had a conversation about the amount of "selling" that goes on in Elem schools today. If given the opportunity to make a one time say..$30.00 donation at the beginning of the school year, how many of you would participate?

I hate them.

:yeahthat: We had one for tee ball. The letter stated that the child HAD to reach a goal of 8 orders OR donate $30. It should not be mandatory. I already paid his damn registration fee to play. Some people do not have $30 to piss away and alot of people are getting sick of ordering overpriced crap from the kids' parents. I did the fundraiser and didn't even order anything. I'm not paying $11 for a Butter Braid. Luckily I have great coworkers that ordered a few things. Now I don't have to pull $30 out of my rear.

I detest fundraisers. That being said, I did participate in my son's t-ball fundraiser. His pre-k had one shortly after the t-ball fund. and I did not participate. I did not want to harass friends, family and co-workers again. I have already decided that when he starts Kindergarten in August, I am not going to be doing any more fundraisers. JMHO.

In answer to your question, I would be willing to donate $30.00 but that is it. I agree with Socki. I felt like the registration fee was enough.

That I would not have participated in at all.
Was that with the school or outside of school?

But if given the opportunity to make a one time $$ donation instead of fundraising.....would you and how much would you be willing to give?

:ohwell: I don't know. I'm sure if each parent donated $15 to cover the $30 per child, that'd be fine.

I see your point here, we're a family of one child. Could get quite pricy.
I'm sure if I went to a PTA meeting I might already know this.....but does anyone know how much (average) $$ a school makes in a year? The actual amount the school gets to keep that is.

Tee ball.
I've heard butter braids are worth their weight in gold.
So's my ass but I'm not walking around selling it. (Hush)

The blueberry creamcheese is awesome but $11 is too much for me to spend on a huge danish. Money is due tonight. Want to buy a few?

What happens if you don't donate or sell anything?
