Furnace Died. Again.

Just sneakin' around....
Just had it serviced last week because it wouldn't fire up. Went into the basement just now, smelled raw fuel oil. Reset light was flashing on the oil burner, so reset it. Furnace tries to start, and a big ol' cloud of smoke pours out of the stack and into the basement. [coffcoff]. Quick shut it off, but the smoke continues to pour out for a good 5 minutes. Must have been some fuel in the chamber that was burning. Now the whole house stinks.

Good things:
It's warm out, opening all the windows.
It's not my only source of heat.
I have a service contract, they will be here this afternoon.

Must be the week for things to break.

My toaster oven is on it's last legs, convection fan bearing is making a racket. And this morning my coffee maker decided to not make any coffee. The coffee pot was one of those "hey, you want this?" from a friend over 15 years ago. Oh well.

Guess I'm getting some unexpected Christmas gifts.

Damn. And I thought I lived under a black cloud.

I know a guy that can fix all that stuff. He posts here regularly too.
Let's just say I'd be embarrassed to hand these to him for repair. I'm not the most proficient at keeping them clean and tidy, and they need to be retired and replaced...

I had a firebox collapse on my old oil furnace and it filled the house with oily smoke. The new furnace was on me, but State Farm insurance covered the cleaning costs. Professionals came in and did the walls, carpets, rugs and furniture. Dry cleaners for all the curtains and a lot of the clothes. Some clothes couldn't be cleaned so I got cash for those since I had replacement cost insurance.

Don't be so hasty. If nothing else, he can turn them in to awesome lamps.
