furniture repair

Can anyone recommend someone that can do minor repair/touch-ups on furniture that got damaged in a move? Some of the pieces are too big to take to the shop, so I would need someone to do the work at my house. Does this add to the expense of the job?

Lowe's/Home Depot both sell stain-compatible filler that you can use as long as the scratches aren't "gouges". They're in the stain aisle.

For those that have used Schoenbauer, the guy from that place said it will cost $125 for them to come out to my house to do an estimate, and they can start the work the same day and repair stuff, so the total price for the visit plus the work would be a minimum of $150 (depending on what I have to be fixed and how long the job will take). Is that how it worked for you guys, did you have them come do the estimate and start the job right away?

It would make sense to me that they do the estimate and then perform the work then and there. They are already there, so why not? Kinda dumb for them to make two trips for a job they can do in one.

I agree, but if the estimate is really high after he looks at my stuff, then I don't know if I will want him to repair the furniture. So pretty much if they don't do the work, then I feel like I'm throwing away $125 for the estimate. If they're as good as you guys say they are, it may be worth the money to have him complete the job.

I have known the Schoenbauer's for years. They've repaired some of my furniture. They do excellent work. If the furniture is damaged badly enough that you can't do it yourself, but it's worth enough to you to have it repaired, then they are the ones to do it.
