Would you guys give me some recomendations for a good furnitute store in the area?

I'm looking to re-do my living room. I haven't decided on a style yet but I want quality built furniture not junk thats going to fall apart.

Vast majority of furniture sold in US is made and constructed in China, even at the big, so called best furniture houses!
Check the labels closely. Good luck.

I think my parents just got their new LR set from Raley's. But, for coffee tables, end tables, etc., I suggest Mr. Yoder (Amish). We've furnished every room in our house with his furniture. It is top-notch!

I agree with Thompsons in Hollywood. Bought mine there 13 years ago and its still holding up. I will be going back soon to buy new. And they get my business.

Great. I'll check out Thompsons this weekend.

What I really ought to do is hire a decorator. Here's a couple grand, turn my bachelor pad into a respectable adults home! LoL!

I got my living room set from Sofa Corner in Lexington Park. I got a couch, loveseat, chair, coffee table and end tables for $1560.00. It is very good quality and a very pretty set. The guy that owns it is so nice and helpful. Good luck!

We just got a couch from Raleys. It was reasonable and it's that material (the name of it escapes me now) that repels anything that is spilled on it. For a better selection, you could try Marlow. They have a LOT of furniture, but it's a bit up the road. At the very least, you can look around and get an idea of what style you like.

We ordered a couch and loveseat in microfiber from Marlo that was promised a week BEFORE last Thanksgiving. Someone had a brainfart and paid with a check. One lame excuse after another and BBB is useless plus they already had a bin full of Marlo complaints. Marlo had our money and would not cancel. We got the furniture in March. It is excellent furniture but no more Marlo's for us.

I got a beautiful leather couch from them, which we picked up. I had no problems.

Raley's in L.P. is OK, but watch out for the one in Waldorf. I went to a sale at the Waldorf store, found a table I liked, and noted the sale price. Came down to the Raley's in L.P. and asked about the same table, and the REGULAR price was CHEAPER than the sale price listed up at Waldorf. Same company, one is honest, the other isn't. Just an FYI.

Also, I would highly suggest you NEVER buy anything from Marlo furniture. I ordered a custom couch there a few years back, waited 4 months for it to be delivered, then watched the delivery guys drop it off the back of their truck. They were nice enough to tell me that the couch was broken, although they pretended that they had no idea how it happened. So, after refusing to take Marlow's offer to buy the broken couch at a discount, I went into the store and picked something out that was "in stock". I set up a pick-up date (I didn't trust them to deliver after the first episode, and I didn't want to take another half a day off of work to wait for their delivery during their 4 hour time slot), rented a Uhaul truck, and showed up at the warehouse to get my couch. OOPs, no couch in stock! So, I had wasted another few hours of my life, plus the cost of a Uhaul truck which I'd rented SOLEY to pick up this couch, and all they could say was "we're sorry, we have 1 couch in stock and it is for another customer". So after 4.5 months of waiting, taking a bunch of time off of work, losing my $$ on a moving truck, I finally said "give me my money back". Nope, hold on, not so easy. They would only cut me a check for what I'd paid with credit card...the portion I'd paid with cash could only be repaid via a check to be mailed to me in 30 days!

Haha, sorry, got carried away, anyway, my advice is to stay away from Marlo's and Raley's of Waldorf. I have no experience with Thompsons. If you want nice oak furniture, the Amish place north of Hughesville is good but $$, and there is a place on the left of Rt. 5 shortly before reaching 301 in Waldorf, but again $$. If you want decent oak furniture at a good price, go to the hunting/fishing store on 301, I don't remember the name of it, half the store is oak furniture, the other half guns and fishing poles.

I think Thompson's is a nasty place. The furniture is nice, but the prices are too high in my opinion. And their facilities give me the heebie jeebies; it is dark, dirty, and musty smelling.

My thoughts exactly. I did buy a Lazy-boy recliner a gazillion years ago from them. They had it priced at $1200, but I ended up getting it for $800.

I went in there a few months ago. It's just gross.

The oak wood furniture place on 301 in Waldorf next to American Hardware is Fred's.
I recently bought sofa and loveseat from LazyBoy in Waldorf, was special ordered because we picked out different fabric then the normal ones, came in about 3 weeks earlier then we were told it was going to be. They do have a crazy delivery policy, if you go to Jessup, you can pick it up free I think, if you pick it up at the store you still get hit with some delivery charge for them to bring it to the store.

I have no opinions of Thompson's. I did have a LR set custom made at Raley's 5 or 6 years ago that was ordered while en route to moving to VA (and then delivered). We never had any problems with it, and as far as I recall, the ex is still using it...

I got my couch and loveseat from them also. It is recliner furniture but it doesn't look like recliner furniture at all. The loveseat back is exposed dividing the room and you can't tell, it is very comfy and they will bargain on prices. :yay::yay:

I got mine from Value City Furniture in Waldorf and am very pleased with the quality and look, plus the low price I paid for it all. :yay: I searched Raley's, Thompson's, and just about every other local store in the area and was not impressed with any of them. :ohwell:

I just got an entire solid wood Broyhill bedroom set from Vintage Values for $75.00. It's kind of 70's looking, but the price was right! :larry:
