Futon Bed

My 12 yr old daughter would like a futon. Right now, she has a queen size bed, but thats only because I got a new one, and gave her my old bed. We went looking at them today (Ellens Futons in Annapolis). GEESH! I never thought they would be that expensive. (maybe I'm just cheap). Would like to get some input, before I drop that kind of money on it. Are they really uncomfortable, or is it like the sales lady said "depends on how much your willing to spend on the mattress".?

Seriously, it depends on how much you're willing to spend on the mattress. I have slept on really nice futons and I have slept on one that are pretty much a glorified dog bed. I have a frame that you can have if you want to start there. Posessions are fleeting.

There was a futon at the cabin we stayed in a few weeks ago..and it was really nice. Wood frame..nice thick mattress. Today, at the futon store, they wanted around $800..and I'm not spending that much. Not for a 12 yr old anyway. Is the frame you have metal..or wood?

Futons Suck. Better make sure the mattress/cushion is extra thick.

check kmart and walmart and big lots they sell them too about 200 dollars

Walmart in Waldorf has them on sale for $98, their in the isle way by the automotive section.

BJ's has one that is made of wood....Not sure if it comes with the matteress or not....I think it's around $300
