I had a medical matter present itself the other night.... Knowing the hospital would probably take hours to see me , I stopped by PATRIOT HEALTHCARE in PF....
Front deskman ..... name escapes me, couldnt see his face due to spanish moss looking dreadlocks, said something like, "mannnn if you dont have an appointment itll be aleass 2 1/2 hours".....
Great. So, I left and was very surprised I was helped by the ER quickly.
MAYBE things are getting better for healthcare....

With any ER it's going to depend on why you're there how long it takes to see you. If you go because you have menstrual cramps and need some aspirin you'll wait longer than the guy who comes in with cardiac symptoms (more on that later), the guy with a knife sticking out of him or the woman with the imprint of a brick on her face. Yes, those are real life examples.

Pro Tip:
If you have a history of heart attacks and you have symptoms like difficulty breathing you get right in. Again, real life example.

Why are they called "Urgent Care" if you need an appointment? A friend ran into that same problem he went to the urgent care and was asked if he had an appointment. He said no and they told him he needed an appointment, he went to his car and called. They said the earliest appointment was at 1145, it was 9 am at that time. He drove to the ER and was seen within 20 minutes.

The urgent cares were developed to deal with GOMERs (Get Out of My Emergency Room) who treated the ER as a primary care doctor's office. Now the urgent cares have replaced the ER for that, hence the appointment model.

At least not as many people are using the ambulance services for a ride to WalMart like they used to.

I had issues with Patriot last summer where they misdiagnosed and I ended up in the hospital for 3 days...Never again. CHS takes alot of heat but I was pleased with my short stay there. One thing to note, if you have more than 6 alcoholic drinks in a week and you admit that to them, you are automatically labeled an alcoholic.

Just sneakin' around....
Which brings up an interesting thought:

If every day end in "day", isn't that redundant? We know it's a day. The day names should be shortened to Mon, Tue, Wednes, Thurs, Fri, etc....
