<!--BEGIN ARTICLE-->ATLANTA -- A 15-year-old high school football player died Tuesday from heat stroke after collapsing one day earlier following an offseason workout.

Coroner Stephen Boyle said Tyler L. Davis, a rising junior at Rockdale County High School, was taken to the county hospital before being transferred to Children's Health Care of Atlanta at Egleston, where he died.

Rockdale County is in the eastern suburbs of Atlanta.

James Ginn, spokesman for the Rockdale County Public Schools, said the district is investigating the death, and the school has canceled all football-related activities "until further notice."

Instead of just water you may want to alternate with Gatorade tonight. I'm sure Shorty will do fine.

What now?!
As a coach, it is my responsibility to make sure each player is in a safe environment. On hot days like today, I make them take water breaks often. You will have kids that say they don't need a drink or they are not thirsty. I tell them they have to drink something because it was not a choice.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that if your coaches are trained properly, they will know the signs of heat related conditions. Make sure your coaches are First Aid/CPR certified. Some coaches have no clue.
