Gas stations are screwing us!

I forgot to post about my experience yesterday and lo and behold, here is an article today about it.

I needed my tanks filled with diesel at the farm so I called my local supplier yesterday morning. I use off-road diesel which means we don’t pay the federal gas tax which is about $.26 per gallon, so I was expecting to pay between $5.50 to $5.75 per gallon for the delivery since diesel at the gas station has been running $5.89 to $5.99 per gallon. My supplier was there in about an hour and filled my tanks and wow – wasn’t I surprised to see the price - only $4.729 per gallon! That means the gas stations are screwing us by about $1 per gallon on diesel fuel – something needs to be done about that! Heads on a pike?

This morning gas at Cooks $4.15. Afternoon price $3.99. Sixteen cents different in 8 hours. I really don't get it. Why?

Me thinks they may have gotten a load whist you were oit and about?

I know when I worked monitoring self serve pumps, our markup was 2 or 3 cents/gallon. We usually started changing the pumps as soon as we had a chance.

$3.31 yesterday in AR.

BTW, maybe we'll be seeing these soon. Touch screen buttons, all electronic (except for the nozzle handle). Bentonville, AR is the home of WalMart and they have many test scenarios in this area before release to the rest of the world. And no, I didn't miss the camera pointed directly at you...

vs $3.99-$4.09 here today. I know Maryland gas taxes are higher than AR, but 70¢ higher? Or is it the Sheetz / WaWa tax we are now paying since they have been able to force most of mom & pops out of business and run the monopoly on gas?

Pretty sure it doesn't work that way. With oil being a publically traded commodity, the price fluctuates with the price of oil or its speculation.

Ask yourself, if they paid $3.50/gallon and the price went up that day... are they gonna keep their price at the pump low? HELL NO!

I was recently in Orlando and rented a car. They offered me gas at $2.30 a gallon if i returned the car empty instead of filling it myself,

They said they had bought it when it was $1.99 and that they were raising the prices the following week.

Local stations were selling a gallon for $3.29.

I think it was the first time in history i made out better bring the car back empty.

Well I need a hundred and fifty gallons of fuel oil, but it's gotten warmer and I was hoping to wait until the price goes back down.
I am not quite ready to pay $4.99 a gallon for it.

also IIRC MD index gas tax to inflation so they no longer HAVE TO VOTE TO RAISE GAS TAXES ?

Being a business owner I would have thought you were more in-the-know about how gas stations work. Sheetz and WaWa keep their margins on gas as absolutely tight as possible because they want to you buy overpriced crap in their mini-mart.

The reason you sometimes see cheaper prices at the mom and pop shops is either because they have smaller tanks, and as such adjust to market fluctuations quicker, but also because they aren't locked into large regional distributers and can shop around more often. But to be honest, most of the time the mom and pop shops have the more expensive gas.

If you can find 2 dollar gas ANYWHERE in the US I'll have my dog suck your dick liar. Yes yes don't worry you can reciprocate on him.

I thought gas was cheap and Trump was doing a great job?
At 3:89 a gallon that’s still far cheaper than it was under Joe Biden.

Secondly, Trump is doing a great job.

There’s room for improvement… I would certainly find it a dramatic improvement if he would round up all the Democrats, including yourself, and roast them over sacrificial pyre on the national Mall.

i’ll bring the sticks and the marshmallows.

My truck can run on E-85, which is typically a lot cheaper than regular. A full tank of fuel lasts me a month, just occasional local travel these days, so the difference in MPG is moot. Stopped at HT gas this morning just to check prices, E-85 was only 10 cents per gallon cheaper. Used to be a dollar or more cheaper per gallon. Makes no sense to even have this fuel for sale here.

E-15 was supposed to be available now as a lower cost alternative, but not seeing that at the pumps. And that's a good thing.... E-15 in some of these older cars will make a mess.

The price of corn has been hovering around $4.50/bushel for a good while now so that’s not the cause of E85 being high. The gas stations are screwing us I tell ya!
