I was canoeing in the Potomac near Sterling VA in the early '90s and I saw one about 3 feet long swimming along in a creek that dumped into the river (maybe Seneca creek?). Nobody ever believed me about it, but I know what I saw.

People bring them back from Florida and then dump them when they get too big. :duh:

I've seen quite a few animals that people swear aren't around here anymore.....but they are, just well hidden.

It's also not impossible that a gator could come up here on it's on. They can live in fresh or brackish water. It could have come up the intercoastal waterway. Not likely but it could happen. Wasn't there a manatee in the Bay a couple years ago?

I've seen them as far "north" as NC.

I'm glad that happened to someone else. If it was me and B he'd be trying to figure out how to keep it.

He's sitting here now wondering what size tank he'd need.
