Gay Mormons seek 'affirmation' from LDS leaders - Salt Lake Tribune

Leaders of Affirmation, a support group for gay Mormons, want LDS general authorities to make a clear, unambiguous statement in the church's annual General Conference that homosexuality is not a sin or a disease and that mothers don't cause it.
They want the church to teach Mormon families to love and respect their gay sons and daughters, help gays and lesbians feel safe at church and to reconcile their sexual orientation and their spirituality.

problem is that it is a sin according to their religion, the courts have no right to force them to make a false statement or to re-write Gods truth.

I think the gay fellers might want to start their own church,

True. Even if they didn't specifically call homosexuality a sin, it still violates their belief that sex outside of marriage is a sin. They also believe that sex for any reason other than procreation is a sin, but they kind of look the other way on that one.

The best these gays could hope for is a DADT policy, but it'll be a cold day in hell before they say it isn't a sin.

any form of resolution brought on by a court would be a violation of the separation clause.
and we know that the liberals dont want that.

The gay mormons didn't take their request to State or Federal courts but have addressed their concerns to the church authorities only.

Thats a two way streeet. While I agree the courts have no standing in this case, the opposite is also true, at least in our society.
but what you are referring to (if I guess correctly) has reasons other that biblical sin to be denied.
but that is not what this thread is about, this one is about a religious group being asked to change their internal doctrine to accomadate.

to accomodate their own members.....

just like different churches accepting divorce and allowing people to be remarried, its up to the church to decide, and if they have enough like minded members, they will surely change their rules, if they dont have the numbers they wont.......
