my mother and I have recently started getting manicures with nail "shellac" or basically polish gel..it's amazing!

The polish stays perfect for over two weeks, and as shiny as they day it's done.. it would likely last longer but you an see the nail growth at the bottom...I wash dishes, clean, give the dog a bath, scrub the counters..all of the above and the polish stays perfect! a few seconds soaking int he acetone..and it comes right off (I generally peel mine off the avoid the acetone soak..but its only a few seconds once or twice) its a little pricier than a regular manicure, but it lasts so long that it is def worth it! Best part? its UV cured layer by layer..and it therefore perfectly dry when you are done..no wait time, no smudges no "dents" ..you can grab your keys and go..

Great stuff, thought I'd share

When I'd get mine done they'd do a layer of acrylic, a layer of polish, design, etc., then the clear gel and UV treatment. Is what what you're having done? Cause I'd get the same effect you described. It was AWESOME

This is like the gel that goes over acrylics..but iscombined with a polish..I get it on my natural nails, and it is painted on like polish and UV cured for each coat..really fantastic looking..and so long lasting

I also love the Shellac systems and the OPI Axxium system which is just like Shellac. I have long nails and this "soft gel" is less harsh than the gel they do in the regular nail shops. The regular gel dents my nails and they break when I take the gel off. I have Axxium gel on now and I love how shiny my nails are and that when I need to take of the gel I can easily do so by soaking them in acetone for a minute and wiping it away instead of having to go to the shop for them to drill it off.

I'd like to find a place in St. Mary's that knows how to apply one of these systems but I've called around and none of them carry it and the 2 spa's that did said that they weren't very experienced with it. So for now I will continue to go to Galleria Spa in Waldorf to get them done.

Really? That's strange. I have had it done several times now and it has always stayed way past 2 weeks plus..witht he exception of the french manicure I had..that one was peeling a little by the end of week 2..

Maybe you have slick nails..lol

Well it was a french, maybe thats why. It started peeling from the bottom up by the next day.

Yeah I think theyare working on that technique..it doesn't lend itself well to their normal paint it on and use acetone to shape it technique..I think it weakens it..the whole nail polish is really great, though

OOH don't drive all the way to the Galleria, go to S-kape in Leondardtown, they do them.
