Too much of Lot's heart was in Sodom, so he was not anxious to leave the city. This lack of urgency to do the things of God is a common sign of compromise and a backslidden condition.
In Genesis 18 Abraham asked God to spare the cities of Sodom and Gommorrah if there were ten righteous found there. Because there were not ten righteous people, God will not spare the city. But He will still answer the heart of Abraham's prayer by bringing Lot and his family out of Sodom, even if it is practically against' Lot's will.

Lot was in the worst of all possible places. He had too much of the world to be happy in the LORD, and too much of the LORD to be happy in the world.
I always heard that Lot would do what God's angels told him to do. I always heard that Lot's wife was the one that didn't want to leave.
So Abraham's prayer that Lot be spared was the only reason the angels went to Lot's house. Lot put himself on the line for the guests but that was only customary. It was Abraham's wish to save Lot that actually caused the angels to drag Lot out of his house.
This changes everything. Lot was use to Sodom. He was use to his status. He was use to sitting at the city gate in authority. Sure, he knew the people of Sodom were doing things that were wrong, but they were his adopted people. He had learned to overlook those issues. All the sin had become normal to him. Just like we are used to it now. We stand politically correct rather than correct.
