Genesis 2:4 This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, when the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.
5 Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth[a] and no plant had yet sprung up, for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no one to work the ground, 6 but streams(b) came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground. 7 Then the Lord God formed a man[c] from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

a. Genesis 2:5 Or land; also in verse 6
b. Genesis 2:6 Or mist
c. Genesis 2:7 The Hebrew for man (adam) sounds like and may be related to the Hebrew for ground (adamah); it is also the name Adam (see verse 20).
It seems that Genesis 1 and the first three verses of Genesis 2 are like an executive summary. Since no one was alive yet to tell what happened based on what they saw, history really begins after verse 7.
The easy English commentary puts it this way.
God made the first man from dust. But God made him special. God breathed into him. God’s breath made the man alive. The same Hebrew word for ‘breath’ means ‘spirit’ also. So God gave his Spirit to the man, so that his Spirit would live in the man. God also made the man able to breathe air. That was so that the man could live on the earth. Man’s spirit lives as well as his body. But that is not true for animals. God did not breathe his Spirit into animals. The writer says that God formed man. So, God made man as a potter forms a pot. (A potter makes pots skilfully from clay.) That shows to us how clever God is. It shows to us that we must serve him. And we must obey him as our master. We must obey him because he created us.
Think about it. When you breath into a container [like a balloon] you're not just breathing air into the balloon. Microscopic stuff like DNA is breathed into the balloon as well. So it must have been with God. When He breathed the first birth of life into man, He must have breathed a little of His DNA as well.
I guess some would say the DNA of God is not something we can test for. I found a site that says that God left a message on our DNA. According to the Daily Currant:
The message was discovered when researchers noticed strange mathematical patterns appearing within a certain section of the genome.
"Hello my children. This is Yahweh, the one true Lord. You have found creation's secret. Now share it peacefully with the world."
According to ucg.org commentary Bill Gates said this.
"DNA is like a software program, only much more complex than anything we've devised."
I'm not a scientist and I don't understand all this DNA stuff but doesn't it make sense that God would use His DNA to jumpstart humans? Wouldn't a human need a little of God's DNA in order for Mary to carry Jesus in her womb?
Just a thought....
