Genesis 23:23 Sarah lived to be a hundred and twenty-seven years old. 2 She died at Kiriath Arba (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan, and Abraham went to mourn for Sarah and to weep over her.

This is from the studylight.org site.

Sarah is the only woman in the Bible whose age at death is recorded; it gives us some measure of understanding how great a woman she is in the Bible.

Nowhere in in the Bible are we told to look to Mary as an example of a godly woman. Twice we are told to look to Sarah as such an example (Isaiah 51:1-2, 1 Peter 3:3-6).

Abraham came to mourn for Sarah; "That is, he set himself deliberately to all the functions of a mourner." Abraham wasn't afraid to mourn, though he did not sorrow as those without hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13).

Losing a wife in those days was hard but it wasn't like it is now. Women had no standing legally. Women were possessions not people.

Remember too that Sarah was also Abraham's half sister. They had lived together their whole lives. Whenever Adam said move, they moved. It was the way things were back then.

Remember, too, that it was Sarah's idea for Abraham to sleep with Hagar. It was Sarah's idea that Hagar and Ishmael should leave because Sarah couldn't deal with the ridicule. It was Sarah's son who inherited the fortune amassed by Abraham.

Her death was personal to Abraham. I'm sure it was rare.
